Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Baton Rouge

The 8 piece spicy chicken family meal I ordered was totally edible. However, I went due to their advertisements about a cute little fried chicken drumstick Christmas ornament that they were giving out for free with purchase of a family meal. I like when companies do fun/goofy things like this, so I decided to give them a try. I called ahead to this location specifically to confirm the ornament promotion was still happening and was told that it is. When I arrived, they had a sign advertising the holiday ornament giveaway right next to their drive-through line. They did not give me an ornament. When I asked the man handing out orders about it, he initially didn't know what I was talking about. Once he had conferred with the other employees, he told me that they don't have any. From his reaction, it was clear that he had not just recently passed out the last one, they've been out for a while.

Look. I understand that they started with a limited quantity, but I am not okay with being told they're still doing it after they've already run out. I will try to believe that in the pre-visit phone discussion a mistake was made rather than an intentional lie being told to get my business, but they're still advertising it with their signage (when you run out either take the sign down or put an "out of stock" note on it..), so either way, they don't seem to care enough about their customers to be a business I'll be interested in visiting again in the...

Ok so I ordered and paid online take out for 9:15, cost was around $45, I was at the drive thru at 9:14, was told to drive up to window. At 9:45 I was asked to pull up so they could give others their order. 30 minutes late and want me to pull up?? No way, last time they forgot about me and I had to go inside, the apple pies I was waiting on was cold. So they all got mad and was cursing at me, as I set the 1st bag down the 2nd bag was almost thrown at me with the lady cursing me the entire time. The food I received was good and properly prepared, however the order was incomplete, go figure. I noticed that every employee in there was over 40 years old. Now I’m not knocking anyone having any job they can get, it’s awesome, but usually high school students work those jobs, it builds character and they learn the value of a dollar and incentive to to want higher education. Not a single teen was working there. Anyways, the chicken just isn’t that good to put up with all that but those caramel apple pies are freaking incredible, and I’ll do anything...

I have mixed feelings about the score I gave this location. Because the business itself deserves 5 stars. But the daily operations, not so much! The owner is very kind, very helpful and professional! The chicken is ALWAYS hot and fresh, I have no complaints there. However, his staff is not always polite. I always feel like I’m bothering them when I’m ordering or asking a question. I went through the drive thru for lunch today, and I’m clearly reading what’s on the menu board and I was being told in a very stern voice, “No! It only comes with one side!” But on the board it says something different. I went ahead and drove around as instructed, I paid for my food and left. The lady at the window couldn’t be MORE unfriendly. She barely said two words to me. Nor did she even respond when I spoke to her. Sir please tighten up your staff... have a meeting, or whatever you have to do. I love your restaurant, but your staff is hurting your business! Well...
