My husband and I decided to try Doe's for the first time last week. We had heard it was a good place to get a nice steak dinner. Upon arriving, I noticed the sign out front promoting their steaks and tamales. When entering the establishment, I was slightly surprised that it was a very casual dining atmosphere. After looking over the menu, we decided to order the tamales with chili sauce for our appetizer. We both enjoyed them and thought they were pretty good. We then ordered two filet mignon dinners and a side of creamed spinach. I asked for no tomatoes on my salad, but little did I know, that meant I just got a bowl of lettus. We ordered both steaks medium and he decided on the fries and I decided on the red potatoes. Once the steaks were delivered they were both very overcooked. His fries were greasy with a horrible aftertaste. The potatoes were horrible and the creamed spinach was served cold and with hardly any actual spinach. Needless to say, I sent all of mine back and asked to just have it removed from the ticket. My husband was starving so he went ahead and ate the extremely dry steak and a few of his fries. I was offered another steak but decided to pass considering it took a significant amount of time to receive the first one. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food considering the price tag that comes along with it.
The manager did comp the meal and recognized that the steaks were definitely overcooked, so at least there was an attempt to make it right.
In summary I wouldn't recommend visiting this place for a nice steak dinner. There are many other places with better food with...
Read moreHow do I begin? Well, for starters, the place is like a cheap, low-end BBQ joint with really expensive steaks. The servers look like they didn't have anything clean to wear, so they just went into their dirty clothes and threw on something to go to work (even though my server was very nice). Some guy who works in the kitchen was wearing a sleeveless tank top and possibly handling the food, which I thought was rather odd. The staff was conglomerating in the main entrance.
The door into the kitchen is filthy, and everything around the kitchen entrance is dirty, so I can't imagine what the inside must look like.
I had the Queen filet, which very much to my surprise was cooked perfectly and rather tasty if it wasn't for some sort of greasy brown concoction that was on the plate smothering my french fries and steak. The fried asparagus with the lump crab meat was also good. The Ceaser salad was horrible; wilted soggy, and it seemed that it was prepared sometime that morning and served to me at 7:30 pm.
I would suggest the owner make a decision on what type of restaurant he/she wants to run and make the staff shower, and dress appropriately, replace the dollar store plastic table cloths, get some nice menus (not greasy dirty plastic laminated things which are okay for a BBQ joint), remove the paper towel rolls from the tables, and get rid of the plastic cups. Deep clean the place, or maybe, just consider lowering the prices to reflect a cheap BBQ joint or food truck because a better than average steak alone is no reason to charge luxury restaurant...
Read moreWe have been going to Doe's Steakhouse for the past 7 years for RESTAURANT WEEK. Every year until now has been wonderful. Tonight there was 3 family members at the table. 2 of the 3 ribeyes were 75% FAT. When we talked to the manager about all of the FAT on the ribeyes he basically stated that he knew that. He said: " I told my servers that there will be customers complaining about how much FAT is on the ribeyes so be prepared ". WHY WOULD YOU SERVE 2 POUND RIBEYES THAT YOU KNOW ARE MAINLY FAT? He gave us some lame excuse for why they had so much FAT and didn't really apologize for it. I understand that this is Restaurant Week and you are not getting the full menu price for the ribeyes ($40.00 for a 3 course meal which includes a 2lb ribeye during Restaurant Week) but you are supposed to be promoting your restaurant. This is your opportunity to get your first time customers (and longtime customers) to come back and pay the full menu price of $36.00 per pound for a ribeye. This was the MOST DISAPPOINTING MEAL we have ever had at Doe's Steakhouse. My wife cut all of the FAT from the ribeye to show the manager that there was more FAT than actual meat. She had only 2 bites of her ribeye when she noticed all of the FAT. She didn't eat anymore of the 2lb ribeye just to show the manager how much FAT there was. Needless to say her and my mother-in-law ( her ribeye was just as bad - nothing but FAT) totally lost their appetite and decided it was time to leave (took the dessert home). We paid almost $200.00 for a BAD MEAL (you got me this time but...
