Service is very nice, and the fried tofu is crispy and yummy, they know how to cook it. Otherwise, the food is overproduced and nothing to write home about. I ordered fresh Vietnamese rolls with peanut sauce as an appetizer ($7.85) and a crispy noodle combination plate (supposedly shrimp, beef, pork, and maybe chicken) with stir-fry vegetables on a crispy noodle nest. The rolls were ok, the fried tofu in them was good, but the rolls themselves were tiny, and the side of peanut sauce was even tinier (think of a dice-sized container). So small, all sauce is gone after dipping a roll only 2-3 times. The serving size of the crispy noodle plate was small, think of 3 small pieces of broccoli, 3 small pieces of celery, 3 small pieces of a couple other vegetables, and 2 small shrimps, 2 tiny pieces of beef. 2 tiny pieces of chicken, 2 tiny pieces of pork served on a very, very thin layer of fried rice (not egg, the way this crispy noodle dish is served everywhere) noodles. I have had this dish many times in many places, this one was the worst. Add a fountain drink, and you end up paying $35 for the 3 things, which are not worth 1/3 that price. The only good thing about this place is the very kind service that I received, and the fried tofu inside the fresh rolls. I would have given this place 1 star otherwise. I...
Read moreThe drunken fish has very quickly become my absolute favorite place to get pho. The broth is so flavorful and rich, and tastes really fresh. The noodles taste fresh, and are not stuck together in one hard clump that breaks when you go to eat it like many other places I’ve had in Louisiana. Their chili oil also tastes very fresh. It’s absolutely delicious. I attached a photo of the meatball pho, which I know is an acquired taste. Most would probably prefer a different beef cut, but I really love the meatballs here they’re tender and delicious. I have tried many of their appetizers too and have really enjoyed all but one of them (sorry, but your calamari is mush and I do not recommend it’s the one draw back I’ve found here) but the egg rolls are actually some of the best I’ve ever had. When I first saw them I thought to myself they’re tiny but when I bit in to them, they were actually the most densely packed egg rolls I’ve ever had, very meaty, and the size of them is perfect as they are very filling. Overall, between here and the west coast, this place has the best pho I’ve ever had in my life and is an absolute gem. I would give their pho 10 stars if I could! Staff has always been very friendly, kind, and...
Read moreI've eaten at Drunken Fish for years! Absolutely love the food- top notch and top notch service. Love the people who work there. Absolutely wonderful service. Through the years, I have come here maybe two times per week. That said, recently, they have put plug -ins in the walls which is strong chemical derived fragrance that not only is not good for the respiratory health of the patrons, but it overpowers the smell of the dining room to the point that instead of smelling wonderful food when you come in, you smell that plug in smell. Further, if any patrons are allergic, as many are to these strong smells, they will become ill. Sadly, I'm one of these people. After eating here for years I haven't been in a few weeks because sadly the plug ins are still there. What people don't realize is that even if you take them out temporarily, the smell can linger for hours to days and stick in the paint and furniture. They've always had them in the bathrooms which we avoid, but in the dining room is unfortunate. Plug -ins don't belong in spaces with food unfortunately/health hazard. Would love to smell the...
