Very disappointed in my visit today. While I'm a long-time customer (going back to the 80's when it was located across the highway), it has been a while since I've been able to come here for breakfast. I just stopped in for a 3 sausage biscuits to go for the family. I fondly remember the biscuits and breakfast in general, so I was really looking forward to it. Paid for it... $5.00 each, a bit much for a simple sausage biscuit, but I remember the portions being generous so that was no big deal. The place had about 10 people working, was about 25% full, not too busy, yet I sat there for 15 minutes and finally had to ask the cashier how long it took them to slap together a sausage patty and biscuit and pack it. Finally got my to-go bag a couple minutes later (with attitude ... I very much regretted my decision to tip for a paper bag of 3 biscuits to go). I realized the bag had only 2 boxes in it, so I reminded the cashier that I had ordered 3. In a rude manner, she opened the bag to show me that one of the boxes contained 2 biscuits. Mind you, these are the small 4" Styrofoam boxes, so I was amazed that 2 biscuits could fit in there. Believe me, they could have fit 3 of the biscuits in there pretty easily. I'll concede the biscuit was fresh, but they were extremely small! I mean like 2" squares... and the sausage patty was smaller than a silver dollar, even smaller than a Jimmy Dean freezer biscuit.... So I essentially spent $18.92 for 3 tiny sausage biscuits that didn't put a dent on my family's morning hunger. I try to give local breakfast places top priority (by avoiding Cracker Barrell and other chains), but Frank's can do MUCH better than what they served up today. Slow, small servings, and not too...
Read moreAlthough it was Father's Day we were seated pretty quickly. The staff was very friendly and courteous. When ordering I explained to the waitress that I was taking my son out for Father's Day and wanted her to give me the check when it was time. She paused and I said they drive here from Kentucky with their 6 month old who was right there. He has just gone through his 3rd surgery and they are trying to buy a house. So I want to give this to him and then for his first father's day. She nodded and said she would. The meal was great and the family kept saying how delicious the biscuits were. At the end I saw her going for the check and handed her my card before she could get it out. She took my card and my son said no give it back that he's paying. I said it's all arranged he took out his card and said here I'm paying I said go and use my card. She looked at me and said it's Father's Day and put my card on the table. I immediately felt humiliated, what do I not look good/rich enough to pay for my son's breakfast? We are both fathers so that wasn't even a thought of choice. I'd recommend the food just not to be respected by the server. However I know she would've gotten a bigger tip if I paid because I have the ability although if I ever go and get her again that will certainly...
Read moreI still can't believe how wonderful the entire experience was!!! The food was unbelievable, we went for breakfast and you are looking for a flavorful, authentic, and charming restaurant, this is it!!! The food was fantastic! We had the beignets, shrimp and grits, and bayou lafourche Benedict, all of which were so rich, flavorful, and the seafood was fresh and generous! My only regret is that we didn't have enough room in our stomachs to eat the stuffed biscuits that day filled with flavored cream cheese and apple pie filling topped with whipped cream and apples!! The table next to us got them and they were huge!! While the food is 5 stars, the real highlight was the service, Denise was our server and our daughters adopted her as their 2nd grandmother within the first 5 minutes, she was warm, so kind, and she had the perfect recommendations! She made us feel right at home and took such excellent care of us! Honestly, I think we might come back here just for Denise because she was so sweet, the delicious food is just a bonus =D. I think I can safely say that this will be the first of many many trips from North Carolina down to visit Frank's. The only issue we had was that it was difficult to find parking for the rv, so make sure you come early,...
