It has been way too long. Ahhhh yes! Thai Food Mastery. I love this place. I always have.
I used to frequent Thai Pepper for daily lunches whenever I was managing an office downtown.
The menu is very authentic. The spice is extra hot. So be cautious when choosing the level of spice. But that’s what I mean by authentic.
Even a seasoned ( no pun ) veteran of spicy Louisiana food that I am. The medium level spice of these dishes even puts me to the test. I suggest all newcomers start with the low level spice. Then move your way up. I’d love to try using Thai spice in a crawfish boil and watch my veteran craw-fishers faces turned red. lol
Thai Pepper nails the flavors of Thai Food here. My personal favorite is the Panang Curry with Chicken.
The soups are extremely flavorful and carefully crafted with numerous mysterious ingredients. Foreign to the eye as well as to the palate. After all. Food that is foreign is the whole idea. Right?
The atmosphere is clean, cozy and relaxing. It’s not a white table cloth type of a restaurant. It’s not meant to be. And it doesn’t have to be.
Thai Pepper is simply a no-nonsense local favorite venue that consistently satisfies those in search of TRUE Thai cuisine. Not an Americanized spinoff.
As I’ve said before. Consistency is key.
You can’t just offer a great restaurant with great food. But then allow the quality fluctuates. It must be consistent. Customers need to know. That when you want to be guaranteed the very best in whatever category of dining that you’re in the mood for. There are places that will never disappoint.
Surprisingly. The entrees are not very expensive. I would be willing to pay more for this level of quality. In a way, I do. In the form of large tips.
In the category of Thai Food. There are many runner ups in the Baton Rouge area. But only one true winner. And in my opinion.
Thai Pepper is the hands...
Read moreFood was actually quite good and the restaurant is fairly small but spacious enough. The reason I'm knocking off a star and a half or so is because I arrived approximately an hour before closing time and was constantly rushed to finish my meal so they could close early by the server staff. She brought me the check with my meal, then proceeded to ask me every minute or so was I ready to close my check did I want anything else. Eventually I paid the bill, asked for a to-go box because now it was uncomfortable and there were other patrons also in the restaurant who had finished their meal but were sitting talking and visiting but they didn't seem to get the same treatment... Regulars I guess. The Zinger was after she got my check closed, and I was packing up what was left of my meal to eat later she walked up to my table and said "let's go home" with a very frustrated tone. She knew I was from out of town because I had mentioned that when I walked in and said I heard great reviews about the food here. So, that said, some local Asians highly recommended it also. But I would get there early so as not to be wheeled out the door while chewing your food. Thai pepper you made great food but you need to put your...
Read moreThe food here is wonderful, and I understand that you were understaffed and super busy yesterday with the approaching holiday. I stayed and ordered, anyway, because I had already been turned away from another restaurant that was only serving Christmas pre-orders during my brief, 30-minute lunch period. I DID try to call ahead, but no one answered.
The way you made me FEEL for simply choosing to eat at your restaurant...like gum on the bottom of your shoe. An inconvenience. An insult to you just for showing up. Inexcusable. You yelled at me, "You wait 20 minutes!" What choice did I have? I was out of time. So I waited.
The holidays are really difficult for some of us. Monday was my wedding anniversary, which my husband had forgotten. Money is almost non-existant right now, but I chose to spend what little I had left eating your soup. It was a spectacularly bad day already, and I consider your Tom Kha a special treat. Usually a balm to the soul.
I probably won't remember the taste of that soup a month from now, but I will remember the way you made me feel. Please be more mindful. I hope your...
