My friend and I arrived 20 mins til closing and they were out of most menu items, but we're pretty easy going and just really wanted to try some good, quick Cajun food on our trip through the state. This place had just that! We were greeted by friendly staff, even as they cleaned and prepared to go home. They didn't mind us coming in late and helped us decide, since we are not familiar with the area or the menu. The food was delicious and affordable (I am currently trying to deconstruct the potato salad, in order to figure out the recipe). Generous portions, balanced flavor and right amount of spice for this wayward wanderer. What the establishment lacked in atmosphere, it made up for in service, flavor, and efficiency. I would definitely return if the opportunity presents itself.

The pastalaya was piping hot, and very good. Seasoned to perfection. Meat to pasta amount was good. Dark meat chicken is my favorite. I couldn't tell if there was pork also. It was good whatever it was. More meat than last time. The red beans needed salt. The salad dressing was bonk. I didn't get a picture of the no name brand packet dressing. I was too scared to try it. The gumbo tasted like unsalted gravy. I would have liked different sausage in the gumbo than the pastalaya. Seemed like they just use the stuff from the pastalaya for the gumbo.

I arrived close to opening time and may have been the first customer. The options are diverse and the meat servings are generous. I had the jambalaya dinner with potato salad and white beans. The beans were very hot so let them cool which is slow! The place started filling up about 11:15.

The Jambalya Shoppe is excellent Cajun fast food. We went there on our way home from visiting the grandkids. After 2 1/2 days on the road it was a pleasant reminder of all the great food we have eaten in South Louisiana. I had the Pastalaya, which is Jambalaya made with pasta instead of rice, gumbo, and two sides: potato salad and red beans. The quantity was ample -- too ample for the average person -- which is nice. My wife had the rice based jambayala and some sides. What a treat, The sausage and chicken where just fantastic and plentiful. I loved the smoked chicken and take it from someone who usually hates everything chicken, this was great! It's fast food, think every fast food place you ever went to, but this was really exeptional; seeral cuts above the rest. I'm going to go back the next time we go through Lousiana. That's for sure. Hey, open some locations in the Houston areas, please,...

Very good jambalaya...Authentic! Haven't had jambalaya like that in years. The Red beans were good, although many restaurants are resorting to using Blue Runner beans to serve in their restaurants and moving away from cooking their red beans from scratch. The potato salad was on point, although I wish they'd use relish instead of sugar to give it that deviled egg kick. The chicken and sausage gumbo was nothing special. Just tasted like bland chicken and sausage gravy over rice, lacking that good gumbo roux flavor. Last but not least, the customer service was great! Would definitely recommend this place. The prices were...
