The way you handle simple situations can easily determine keeping and losing long time customers. I eat at this restaurant atleast twice a month and my bill is always $60-$100. I always tip the chef, I always tip the waiter. Today is the first time I ever had an issue and it changed my mind about ever spending another dollar of my hard earned money here again. It started off kinda lackluster because though the restaurant was empty the waiter didn't bring the soup to the table until our food was half cooked, it obviously sat on the counter waiting for him to come get it because at that point it was no longer hot, but luke warm. We paid it no mind. The chef did a great job entertaining the table, the food came out delicious. 1/3 of the way through my plate i noticed a long stringy straight dark hair. Immediately I lost my appetite. The young man came back out with to go containers and bills. I showed him the hair, he took it and disappeared. I then go to the front desk and tell them what had happened and he asked "what would you like me to do about it" I said "comp my meal ill pay for the other 2" his response was " i can only offer a 10% discount" my reply "$4.50 discount for a meal I didn't eat, you know what cool" I paid for the food. I ask again "how about you ask them to remake the plate, once I discovered the hair I didn't finish the meal" he goes in the back and after deliberation with several staff members in the back he comes back and says they told me "no, we won't remake the food" so now I'm at a loss, I've paid for food I didn't eat at a restaurant I enjoy frequenting to be treated like I was fishing for a free meal. The truth is I attempted to solve the problem without disruption, at this point the place is getting busier and I don't want my experience, easily written off as an honest mistake by a staff member, to reach the ears of other patrons. I kept it cool and I never raised my voice but I was furious. That exchange solidified my decision to never eat here again. I'll gladly drive to Kalamazoo before I ever spend another dollar with this business. It was tasteless how they handled it and their inability to train their staff to problem solve and minimize the potential to lose a customer made no sense at all. That experience handled the right way would have not only solved the problem but easily alter my opinion on future business. If wasn't about who's at fault, it was about making it right. I wish things were different but this was definitely the last encounter with this restaurant I'll have. There are plenty of other businesses that value the customers who frequent their...
Read moreI met here with friends. My husband and I were from out of town. 1st time eating here. I have a low seafood allergy. I can be around you as you arebeating seafood but when my food is being prepared.... It cannot touch seafood.
My husband informed the servers of this before we sat down. If this accommodation could not be done, we would have chosen to leave
We all know how hibachi is you never know your neighbors. And of course our neighbors ordered scallops and shrimp. This was totally okay.
For all of you that know about cooking; seafood cooks faster than other meats. Because of this, seafood is normally added last. Thus my seafood allergy has never been a problem because everything else is cooked 1st and the seafood cooked on the grill by ITSELF.
Our server began cooking the rice. That was perfect. He then put the vegetables on. That was perfect. He then began by putting on the steak, chicken and the Salmon. He also added the scallops as everything else was cooking..🤔😲🤢 STOP!!! Everyone in my group Expressed to the server......Hey you just put scallops on there. The server responded as if he didn't realize it and took the scallops off quickly.
Even though the scallops were taken off there was a moment of touching the other meats. And the same utensils handled the rice and the vegetables.😧🥺 Management came over, the situation was explained and they offered to have my food cooked in the back to avoid cross contamination again. 😉🫠 I was thankful for this. But concerned about that simple mistake of putting scallops on the grill so early. And with putting them on the grill knowing someone has a seafood allergy in the group.
Overall, it was a unique and...
Read more2 years ago I gave this place a 5 star review and said amazing things about this place, but I really had to come and change my review because the last year or so thia place has gone downhill. I dined in yesterday for hibachi, place was pretty empty for a Sunday afternoon. First as soon as we arive one of the hibachi tables is smoking heavily and smoking out the whole place, as we were walked back to our spot we heard the employees talking about the fire alarm is probably gonna go off. Then we order our food which comes with soup and salad. The salad I received had literally like 4 pieces of iceburg lettuce and some carrot garnish drenched in salad dressing. Soup was alright. While we were sitting there whilr the guy cooks the food he barely did any tricks at all and didn't hardly interact with us. No sake was offered either. Ive been here a thousand times and I was very disappointed that we received half the amount of rice that I know I used to get here. Food also didn't taste like it usually does either. Yesterday the sushi was pretty good but in the past few months when I've ordered take out sushi on sundays it has been disappointing. All in all it really feels like they have lost their passion and it makes me very sad cuz when this place first opened it was my favorite restaurant in all of Battle Creek and I wont be suprised if they end up closing in the...
