While the atmosphere makes you feel like you aren't in Battle Creek still, the rest of the experience was far from stellar. My son and I were there for the first time on 5/10/23. Upon arrival just after 6pm, we walked in on the Michigan Ave side and were not greeted until to be seated until the 5 employees finally noticed we were waiting to be seated as they were having personal conversation and not paying attention to the door where guests walked in. After finding us a seat, we sat down and they walked away. No drink order. No communication about what to expect or menus. Just gone. The waitress was not horrible, but we ran out of drinks multiple times and it took forever to get a refill. I also do not like the check out process where we don't get a paper receipt to review before paying as looking at a screen that the waitress is holding feels a bit rushed. Then we don't get a receipt or even the offer of a paper receipt and in the mix of the checkout process, I forgot to ask. This was not the experience I was hoping for and while I will return once more to see if the experience is better, I don't expect it to be. One thing I hope is that they expand the menu a bit as there is not enough food options.
Food Review: Artichoke Spinach Dip ($12) - This is one of my fav appetizers to get a restaurants, but while this dip had excellent flavor, it barely had any spinach in it, so I wouldn't get this again.
Flavor: 9/10 (would've been 10/10 with more spinach) Portion: 6/10 (on the small side)
Blue Gill Basket ($18) - Love fish dishes and was excited to try this. I'm not a fan of cole slaw so I asked if I could sub house salad with an add on cost, and felt scolded when she told me "No, we can't do that" so I just had her remove it completely from my plate.
Flavor: 8/10 (Lot of breading and dry) Portion: 10/10 (Perfect amount - 3 pieces 3-4in square)
BBQ Pulled Pork ($14) - My son stated that he couldn't even taste any BBQ sauce on it and had to remove slaw off it when the kitchen didn't remove it as requested)
Flavor: 2/10 (When you remove slaw and little to no BBQ, it was plain) Portion: 10/10...
Read moreWe had our wedding rehearsal dinner at New Holland Brewing in Battle Creek in the shared space of their beer garden in September! We had roughly 60 guests and felt that we had a very comfortable amount of space! We had correspondence with Shawna during the planning process and she was very responsive and professional and made the coordinating of the rehearsal dinner seamless! Upon arrival, we had staff members introduce themselves and we even had staff assigned to our event, should we need a point-of-contact for any questions! There was another event being held in the shared beer garden space, but they roped off the space down the middle and it felt very separate which was exactly what we were hoping for!
It was a stunning event space, covered roof but with open windows to allow the fresh breeze in, plenty of seating space for guests, fire-top tables, and even a live band the night we had our dinner! The pizza bar was absolutely delicious, the wings and spinach and artichoke dip were also SO good! The bar was very efficient and the beers and signature cocktails were all very tasty!
Many of our guests stated that this was SUCH an awesome rehearsal dinner experience with the location, the food, and the beer being so top-notch, and we can only agree! We would definitely recommend hosting your event at New Holland Brewing in Battle Creek if you want an elevated and spacious space with tons of character as well as delicious...
Read moreLovely addition to downtown BC, we are so glad we decided to try this place out. We usually just park at Friendship Park behind the restaurant and head in through the Beer Garden. Sometimes we're greeted by uncomfortably loud music, but the place has a warm atmosphere and an eager hostess who tells us we can just go inside. After getting a table, we had probably the most charming server I've had all year! Jacob was very personable and knowledgeable about the craft and the company. His service was immaculate, and I'd come back purely for that. Food and drink here is great, better than expected! I highly recommend the Bearcat Wrap and their fried chicken sandwiches, but no matter what you get, it'll probably be delicious - especially the cocktails! The atmosphere and decor inside the building is comfortable and exciting. Love the lighting. Would love to dine in the Beer Garden when they're not playing live music, just a bit too loud for me. Bathrooms are clean and stocked well. Staff is always welcoming, polite and helpful. I love coming here with my friends...
