My nephew wanted gelato last night and we got in line. We waited in line for quite a while and at exactly 9:00 she told us (who were the last in line) that they had to close immediately because it was 9:00 pm. We pointed out that we were in line well before 9:00 pm and could she please just get a scoop of gelato for my nephew... Literally one scoop for one kid who had been waiting from before closing. The lady pointed to the cameras and said "Those cameras are watching us and I'll get fired if I do that, you have to go!"
As we walked back through the countries to watch the show with our family, we noticed that every other food store was still open. We stopped in at the Werther's shop and asked if we could get him some kind of dessert and they were more than happy to accommodate us. His dessert was delicious!
I've worked in restaurants for years, I know how it works. I get that they wanted to get out of there at closing, but what they needed to do is send somebody to stand in line and say we can't take any more guests past this point because we're closing soon. (There were several people working there, so they did have an extra person to do that) We would have either been in line before the cutoff or he would have been told no before standing in the line!
Honestly this is not the first 'not Disney like' experience we've had in the Epcot countries this trip! It's ridiculously disappointing to spend so much money to be there for a family of 10 and then have people snapping at us or refusing to serve us when we were in line before...
Read moreThis is the worst experience I've had at Disney. I waited a very long time in a short line to order. After ordering, I noticed at least 2 groups receive their food who were in line after me. I went to the pickup window to ask about my order and the server grabbed my receipt, shoved it back at me, then went to make my order. When she brought it to the counter (and this was an entirely wordless interaction), I took it but noticed that it wasn't made with the right toppings. I took it back and asked about the chocolate shavings and cookies that were supposed to be on top. This was a $13 dessert so I wanted the right thing! Two of the servers came to the window. One said they were out of the chocolate. I asked about the cookies and got a blank stare, so I looked into the stand told them that I can see the cookies right there. She said, you want cookies? Then went to the jar and grabbed several with her bare hands. Some spilled into the prep table and she wiped them into a cup, which she then brought to the pick up window and slammed down. At this point I was over the rudeness and asked for their names. One server said with a smirk "you want to file a complaint? " I said yes I do. The second server blew a giant kiss at me, turned her back and left. My next move was to head right to guest services to report this. The whole trip had been filled with such kindness and these two inept and rude young ladies...
Read moreIf you are looking for authentic Italian Gelato then do not waste your money here.
I was SO excited when I saw that Epcot had gelato in their Italy section. Knowing that Disney does this right, I was sure that this would not be some American knock off and happily shelled out the $75+ for the small cold treat for my family. I have lived in Italy and my family has traveled there many times over the last 15 years so we have fallen in love with the smooth creaminess taste of true Italian Gelato as compared to the American ice cream.
What we received however was a cheap Americanized ice cream in a Gelato cup, that was only worth $25. It was so disappointing that Disney would false advertise this product as Italian Gelato when it was in fact American gelato...
