We have eaten here a few times before, but with family along this time, we knew we had to bring them here. We had a group of 6 so we ordered two naan bread services and one samosas. The order of samosas comes with two of them for $11, so that’s quite steep. But they were delicious. The bread service is $22 which is kind of pricey, but it does come with 5 different types of naan bread and 12 different sauces. So it is super fun to try all of the combinations and everything is delicious. We also ordered the butter chicken, which is a great entry level dish for those who are just getting into the Indian and African inspired dishes. It is a decent portion and comes with an African side. It is delicious every time. We also got the tomato soup (really delicious) and the fish (cleaned the plate). Overall we had a good time here, and even though we were seated in the back, we could still see the savannah and the animals walking around. I will say this time, we had the worst service out of all the times we have been here, which is surprising because the other times have been outstanding, with this time being underwhelming. Our server felt very bothered to be here and we were almost ignored the whole time. Which for a party of 6 our bill was quite high, it just didn’t seem like he was working for his tip. Everything took quite a while and our food was delivered by other servers. I am hoping this is just a one time thing, but felt awkward as we hyped this restaurant up to our family and wanted it to live up to expectations. Later in our trip we also mobile ordered the bread service to go. Overall we really enjoy the food at this restaurant, but know that it can be a bit pricey, we also enjoy the savannah views while dining here.
We had been here once before years ago and remembered that it was amazing so we came back with family this time. We made the reservation time for about a half hour before sunset and requested a window seat. This was granted and we were able to watch the animals on the savannah before it got dark. We also arrived about half an hour early to go out on the viewing areas to see the animals. They have two patios/decks on the upper level, and then a walk out area that pops out one level down from the lobby. Sanaa is located in Kidani village, so when taking the bus to animal kingdom lodge, be sure to listen for the kidani village stop. It is on the lower level down from the lobby. We checked in and were sat very quickly. Our server was so friendly and patient, and explained the entire menu, as we had questions as to what things were. We ordered the naan bread service, which is a must order! It is many different flavors of naan and many different sauces to dip it in. Fabulous dish. We also ordered the butter chicken (absolutely amazing), the seafood curry (pretty darn good), and the pork vindaloo (super tender and has a small kick!). All was so good. Our server was so attentive, friendly, and helpful the entire time. She even offered us to-go waters. They do have Disney visa and annual pass discount here so be sure to ask. Overall amazing meal with African/Indian fusion, and we will definitely be back...
Read moreSooooo, we started our Disney adventure with dinner at this place. We loved getting to see the animals and Chihuly glass while waiting for our table. We did make reservations 60 days in advance for our party of 5, and ended up waiting about 30 minutes past our reservation to be seated. There was ABSOLUTELY more than enough to do while we waited. Out of all of our sit down meals, I would argue that this MAYBE the best, and the most reasonably priced. We also ate at many other wdw restaurants, which I will review as well, if you care to read those. Our group consists of 2 adults, 2 older teen boys (who have hollow legs), and a younger daughter who eats on-and-off. None of us are very picky, we have no allergies, and we will all try anything once. We ordered: Appetizers -The bread service (which is why we went in the first place, because everyone online had recommended it) IT WAS AMAZING. there was only one accompaniment that we didn't care for, and we all had our favorites. The paneer paratha was delicious. We ordered extra. -The lamb kafta which was great -Salad sampler, also light and a good choice to serve as sides to out main courses Entrees -2 potjie inspired; one with braised beef (we all loved this and ordered extra rice to dump the sauce on) w/ rajma masala (we all loved this side) one with Goan seafood curry (which I did not care for but the boys loved) w/sukuma wiki (which the boys did not care for but I loved... reminded me of collard greens) Both of these came with basmati rice, but we ended up ordering more. -Kid's butter chicken (very good but not as good as the braised beef) w/basmati rice and Pumbaa's dessert grub Dessert We were not going to order dessert, but after our daughter got a Pumbaa's dessert grub, we ordered two more for the boys. They were very, very good. They were not your average "dirt-in-worms". They had marshmallow cream on top of a gram cracker crust, which is under the chocolate pudding and cookie crumbles. Not to mention, chocolate rocks and gummy worms... This was the best 3$ addition we had to any of our meals during our 8 day stay, and the kids are still talking about it. This was enough food for us all.It ended up being about 160$ish with tip. The entire dining experience took about two-an-a-half hours, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The bathrooms were lovely and clean, the staff was great, and the hotel is amazing. We all highly...
Read moreI love this restaurant with amazing decor, Live Savanna animals on the other side of the windows, and the flavorful dishes. While I tend to lean towards simple dishes, my wife loves to try new entrées. This restaurant has spectacular food. Nina was our Waitress and she paid close attention to our table, making sure everything was exactly as we ordered it, kept replenishing our drinks and just did an excellent job. The one thing we always get is their Bread platter which when it first came out was on this giant board about 3 feet long and 1 foot wide. It had 5 types of bread spread out on it and 9 little holes for the nine dipping sauces. Through the years the name has changed a little and is now called the "Indian-style Bread Service" and is served with the Naan bread on a plate and the sauces on still on a plank of wood, just smaller piece of wood. I love this dish because of the simplicity of it. This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Disney, I have had a couple of birthday parties here and is a place I am always introducing to my family and friends. They are loved the bread service. ( A truly unique dish and it reminds me of a time I spent with my friends in a Bedouin Oasis in the middle of a Israeli dessert back in the mid 90's. Watching this nomadic tribe make the Naan bread before us and cook it on a frying pan, was only part of the enjoyment, when it came to eating, there were no plates just Naan bread and your fingers. ) Back to Sanaa, along with the bread service, they serve this loose leaf Chai Tea packed full of flavor and steeps in front of you. In the beginning they used to offer a pulled pork which I always got, but now a similar version can be found at the Kidani Pool bar. So I usually get their hamburger without the sauce since I do not do well with spicy and I change the goat cheese for cheddar. I like goat cheese cold and on a salad not warm and on an hamburger. Everything tastes good and worth a visit if you get a chance. Side note, the bread service started out around $12, but is currently $19. It is worth it and can completely...
