Moldy Bites - Dangerous Negligence

I must start this review by expressing my utter shock and disappointment with the abhorrent experience my companions and I had at "Moldy Bites" aka Friar's Nook restaurant.

This is a DISNEY's restaurant in a first world country!

To our horror, we discovered that the bread was covered with mold. This was an alarming and dangerous oversight on the part of the restaurant, as consuming bread contaminated with mold can have severe consequences for one's health.

It was disconcerting to realize that we had unknowingly consumed moldy bread during our meal. The mold being hidden on the back of the bread made it impossible for us to notice until the very end. This means that we ingested a significant portion of mold, unknowingly subjecting ourselves to potential health risks.

Immediately after discovering the mold, we brought the matter to the attention of the restaurant staff and manager. However, their response was utterly disheartening. Instead of showing genuine concern and taking appropriate actions to address the situation, they displayed a shocking lack of responsibility, saying that nothing woul happen if we are not allergic to mold... Are you kidding me? All they offered was a refund for the meal, as if that could rectify the gravity of the matter. They seemed completely indifferent to the potential health hazards their negligence had exposed us to, which is deeply disconcerting and inexcusable. The manager also explained us that she was in medical school and she could assure us that if we did not have allergies to mold it would be fine... Really?

Eating bread with mold is a serious matter that should never be taken lightly. Mold produces mycotoxins, harmful substances that can lead to a range of health issues, including allergies, respiratory problems, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Friar's Nook's failure to take immediate and comprehensive actions to address the moldy bread incident highlights a concerning lack of concern for their customers' well-being.

I cannot emphasize enough how dangerous it is to eat food contaminated with mold, and it is the restaurant's fundamental responsibility to ensure that the food they serve is safe for consumption. Unfortunately, Friar's Nook and DISNEY'S Guest Services have demonstrated a complete disregard for this responsibility, and their lackluster response to the situation is deeply disappointing.

As a result of this distressing experience and the restaurant's careless attitude towards customer safety, I strongly advise against dining at Friar's Nook until they demonstrate a sincere commitment to food safety and customer satisfaction. The potential health risks associated with consuming moldy food are too severe to be ignored, and your well-being should never be compromised for the sake of a meal.

In conclusion, my experience at Friar's Nook was nothing short of a disaster. The restaurant's negligence in serving us moldy bread without taking proper actions to address the situation is deplorable. I hope that my review serves as a cautionary tale to others and urges Friar's Nook to reevaluate their practices, prioritize food safety, and treat their customers' health and well-being with the seriousness it deserves.

We went to Disney Guest Services at the park and they couldn't care less, we talked to our lawyer and he's collecting information already.

Staff was very unfriendly and rude. I never write reviews ever but this warrants a poor review. As someone with celiac disease who has had to follow a gluten free diet for the last 14 years I have found ways to navigate the troubles of eating while travelling and I always attempt to do so with as little inconvenience to restaurant staff and fellow travellers as possible. When we asked for an allergen menu and stepped out of the way to let other customers pass us in like to order the woman working the counter kept making snarky comments and asking us if we had found anything yet. The reason it took us a while to navigate their menu was because it wasn't an allergen menu. It was simply photographs of the ingredient list of every single item and condiment they use that were distorted and pasted into a book that was falling apart. Therefore you had to figure out what was in each dish and then find those ingredients in the book. If you have a food allergy do not expect any consideration at this restaurant and good luck figuring out what you can...

It is really difficult to find a thoroughly bad experience at Disney. But Friar's Nook really achieves this.

Short Version: The line moved slowly. The food came out slowly. The order was wrong. The food was just very sub-par. Regret going there.

Story Time: Yes it was slow as above. Two particular things stood out. When ordering my food I asked what came on it. The cashier looked puzzled and gave a very inaccurate description (as we come to find out later). I clarify the question and mention what I am trying to avoid (I dislike blue cheese dressing and was getting a buffalo chicken item). When the food comes out even though I asked about what was on top and explicitly asked about if there was a blue cheese dressing there is was. I was furious and had they been less busy I would have tracked down a manager but I did not want to disturb other customers. My fiancees food came out as ordered but it just was not good. Cold fries, stale bread, off tasting sausage. I cannot find a positive thing to say about this place and feels horrible...

We love to stop for a mid-morning or mid afternoon snack here! The tots are a favorite of our family, and the new Lavender Lemonade was popular with my picky children! We really enjoyed the Halloween Party version of the tots in September and October 2023 for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. This location closes earlier than park close. Mobile order is available at this location. Update as of 8/17/24 - we still LOVE this location, but on our last visit, their mobile order cast members seemed to really struggle each of the days we visited. Perhaps they were just new or new to mobile order. Food was cold 2 our of 4 times we visited on this trip just due to confused workers who might need a bit more training. If lines are not long, I would stand in a regular line at this point.
