My group of 7 ate at the Liberty Tree Tavern on 7/16/23. This was my first experience with table service dining at Disney World, and I would definitely do it again!
The Process We were able to make the reservation through the app and quickly move inside once we arrived. We were seated quickly and it was nice and cool! The food was not vegetarian/gluten free; however they did ask (both during the reservation and from our server) about food sensitivity, so they might have had alternative options available. I know there was a vegan meatloaf option on the menu.
The Food I would call the food "Country Thanksgiving" inspired. It's served family style and is all you can eat. Our server came over immediately and took our drink orders (Coke products are included in the price) and within minutes we had ice cold water and sodas. Then almost immediately we were served warm, garlicy, buttery rolls and salad. The salad dressing was not something I would normally have ordered, but it was delicious! Once we finished our salads, the main course was served. This included turkey, dressing, pot roast, mashed potatoes, green beans, and macaroni and cheese. I got seconds of every one of the items. We could have ordered additional servings to be sent to the table, but we didn't need to as there was more than enough for all of us! Then - dessert! Dessert was a toffee cake served with ice cream, and it was also AMAZING! It included hints of butterscotch and was one of the best desserts I've ever had.
The Price The price was much higher than quick service, but we all agreed that it was worth it. Some of the frequent Disney-goers in our party said it was the best meal they've had at Disney World! I would absolutely do this again for dinner.
The Atmosphere The atmosphere was fine. The websites said it was a tribue to the founding fathers, and we did see some pictures that we eventually deduced were founding fathers. It has a rustic, country feel and fits well in the Liberty Square area. I personally prefer the more 'magical' themes, but it was appropriate for the location. There were stairs to get to the restroom and to our table, so you might want to check on wheelchair accessibility (though we did see strollers and wheelchairs exiting.)
Overall Overall, I consider this a winner and would definitely go back! I didn't take any pictures because the food came so quickly and I was so excited! But the photos posted by other travelers looked very accurate. Next time I'll be quicker...
Read moreMy s/o and I dined at the Liberty Tree Tavern May 13, 2018, and our experience was somewhat less than magical. I would not recommend this restaurant as a place one can have a relaxing dining experience.
We arrived somewhat early for our reservation, but they seated us pretty quickly. We got a kick out of our hostess announcing the state we live in along with our names when calling for us to be seated.
Our wait person was reasonably attentive and helpful given the conditions in the restaurant. The only gripe we had was that he whisked the alcoholic beverage menu away before we had a chance to decide if we were going to have a drink pre-dinner.
That leads me into the less positive--everything was happening at break-neck speed. We were seated in a less than ideal location--basically in an aisle next to the servers galley and a main walkway, and there were servers and guests rushing right past our table.
I got a sense of "hurry up and get in, hurry up and get out." Not enjoyable, and not something we're going to repeat.
Most of the food was quite good, with a few glaring (for us) exceptions. I love a good pork roast--but whatever they did to the pork served turned my stomach. I don't know if it was a one-of situation, or it's something in their basic recipe, but it was a non-starter for me. The turkey and other side dishes were fine. While I liked the cranberry sauce, my s/o didn't eat it (a rarity for him) as it was pretty heavily loaded with cinnamon.
The drinks were good, although as noted above, I had to ask for the beverage menu back (our server assumed we weren't going to order, I think). The dessert was fantastic.
The sound level in that restaurant was deafening. I don't know what it is about their acoustics--we've been in restaurants at Disney World with screaming/crying kids before, but we could barely have a decent conversation it was so loud. It actually ruined my s/o's experience, and he left with a headache.
We won't be back--I can see where a family who was rushing to eat to make a fast pass reservation would appreciate having such a hurried meal, but I can't recommend this restaurant for anyone just wanting a different dining experience at the Magic Kingdom. I'd rather go to any one of the fast service/counter service places and save my money...
Read moreThis was the first time we had ever dined here before. The restaurant is located in Liberty Square, in Magic Kingdom Park. It is a colonial American themed dining experience. Personally, I love themed dining. The building, architecture, design, and table set up all looked perfectly in theme. The staff are all dressed in colonial outfits. We arrived about 10 minutes early for our reservation (Reservations strongly recommended) and were seated roughly within about 10-15 minutes.
Dining Experience There isn't really a menu for this restaurant. It is a three-course meal, served family style (which means they put a large serving bowl of each dish on the table, and you share, just like if you were at home). The first course is bread, and salad. The second course is traditional American Thanksgiving fare, which included Foul, Pork, Roast beef, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, green beans, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. The final course, dessert, is a sweet sticky toffee pie with ice cream. The staff did inform me that if the kids were not pleased with the meal that is provided, they can always order some chicken nuggets instead, which while not needed, was incredible to know that such an option was available.
For a table of 8, they brought us out two large serving platters of each dish, which was more than enough. Food presentation was lovely, and everything was prepared well and served hot, My favorite though, was definitely the dessert. I had to show some serious restraint not taking all of it. Because this was themed dining, it was on the more expensive side, and rather than a standard lunch, this was a dining experience.
Pros and Cons Pros: Themed dining, with costumed staff, large amount of food served, no need to escort kids to a buffet line since its all served at your table
Cons: Expensive, need reservations
Overall 3.3 stars, I thought this was a great little place, but I am a fan of historical re-enactments, and love thanksgiving fare. I was definitely trying to rate it beyond my own scope. I think this is a place that the adults would enjoy more than the kids, although in our party, all seemed...
