1st visit) no sign about “cash only”, no atm located in facility to make withdrawal. You can charge a $0.99 atm fee, and locate it in your business to make it easier on your customer. Guess that is too much work on their end.
FOOD WAS AWESOME. Totally worth leaving to hit up an atm and driving back.
2nd visit) Knowing some businesses in area don’t accept cash I keep 2 $100 bills on me. Wanted to take my 90 year old grandmother in for a good lunch meal. Went order and the cashier noticed my $100 bill and said we can’t take it.
YOUR A CASH ONLY BUSINESS BUT REFUSE TO HAVE ENOUGH CHANGE TO TAKE A $100 BILL.
I get upset but I tell my grandmother we must leave, as the only bills I have don’t meet their cash only policy.
My grandmother said no problem I have $40 and I’ll pay.
The cashier starts to take my grandmothers order and calls her “sir”. I’m like ma’am she is a woman. She does apologize, and I let it go.
So 2 sandwiches and 3 drinks = $31.00 with no sides. Cool they couldn’t take a $100 when their food is priced as high as a 747. Whatever I need to let it go.
I go sit at the table and notice the entire kitchen giving me dirty looks. I’m like whatever the food is good, it’s paid for, they can look stupid all they want it’s a free country.
So we get the food, and my grandmothers order is wrong. I asked her if she wanted me to send it back, she said no I guess I’ll eat it. She’s old school and thankful for everything. She try’s so hard to power through her dislike of the lettuce, but unfortunately most of it ended up thrown away.
Good food, clean, but they firmly believe in making life as hard as possible for their customers.
I probably will only go back solo, but not very often and only when I want a roast beef Po -boy. I definitely will not bring anyone with me, so they don’t have to deal...
Read moreBest food on the Coast with an atmosphere of genuine hospitality. The 2 Owners created a New Orleans style Moffelatta that was better than the Central Grocery, where it originated. There is not another place on the Gulf Coast that could equate to their Fried Shrimp Poboys borrowing the style of French Cuisine in offering Fresh PoBoy Bread (unpressed) from New Orleans. Fresh Fried Shrimp, stacked high, the mouth watering fresh bread and fresh hot fried Seafood became a symbiotic delicacy that regardless of how full I was my savoring taste buds wanted more. I loved that each bite sent contents of the PoBoy onto your plate. So you always had those extra shrimp to munch on at the meals end. My favorite would always be their Roast Beef and deliciously prepared Gravy PoBoy, WOW. That is a work of skill, labor and Art gave a sense of personal heart warming pride to customers. While my husband would often get the special Red Beans or Jambalaya, I would only briefly entertain the idea. I knew everytime what I was having A Hot Fried Shrimp PoBoy with Hot French fries on the side. The thought still ignites watering taste buds just thinking about it. And always will. So what made this little Lunch Restaurant stand Alone as being the Best hands down. I say it was the 2 women who knew the secrets of great taste but also their dishes were combined, cooked and served with a special love, labor and soul that desired Greatness and Perfection down to the...
Read moreThe food and the service weren't bad, but they weren't good either. I ordered a whole shrimp poboy, fries and a drink and it was $20. It wasn't a bad poboy, it just wasn't that good and honestly only worth about $10 in my opinion. Add $4 for the fries and coke (which came in a 12oz can) and $14 would be a fair price for what I felt I got. The kitchen was full of older women who gave off the "don't bother mom while she's in the kitchen" vibe. They weren't rude, but they definitely didn't act like they were happy to serve. I wouldn't recommend this place, but I wouldn't tell anyone to avoid it either. If asked my actual answer would be, "eh, I suppose they're worth a try, but I wasn't impressed". They were very clean though, I'll give them that. It was clean, and you could definitely tell they put in effort to maintain sanitation and a clean dining area. They had a Health Department rating of A and it was very...
