Went here around 5PM on Labor Day because we were looking for food and drinks somewhere new. When we arrived here we realized as we pulled in that it was the old 401K Bar, we continued on and the parking lot was nearly full. Once we pulled in we were a little hesitant knowing what the place was like before (not saying it was bad before, just basic eats that were overpriced like the drinks) despite our hesitance we still proceded inside and it was a sensory revival. Great atmosphere and the smell of the food was phenomenal. The front of the place was the same mostly with the exception of the archway where they had opened up the restaurant into the space next door with a few High top tables and game machines and typical golf/bowling plus some table games couple of dart machines and a 9ball table. In the back of the restaurant where the pool table and one dart machine used to be it was made into more tables for dining. At first we sat down at one of tables in the back away from the activity but then later moved and settled down at one of the 4 small tables along the wall so we could be closer to the crowd and activity. The server came to our table and greeted us with a smile and we then ordered drinks and found out that it was Happy Hour B1G1 drinks. I ordered a bourbon and coke and my partner ordered vodka and cranberry both were made perfectly (not weak like some chain restaurants are) after reviewing the sizeable laminated menu that had 2 sides to it we decided on what to order. It was pretty busy here so it did take about 20 minutes to get our food but it was well with the wait and during our wait the server was very attentive stopping by to check on us regularly keeping us updated on our order. I ordered the Fried Mushroom appetizer which came with ranch (these were battered and perfectly crispy and juicy probably the best I've eaten) and 5 buffalo wings which came with a carrot and celery stick and bleu cheese (these were standard sized wings both flats and drum and were fried naked and coated with coated well with buffalo sauce and were excellent both in flavor and texture). My partner order the grilled chicken wrap with french fries. (We expected that it would be a small wrap but we're surprised it was a huge wrap loaded with chunks of grilled chicken, lettuce, chunks of tomato and shredded cheese and we asked for ranch and they offered the option of on the wrap or on the side and we opted for on the wrap and it was delicious. The fries were a seasoned fries and they to were deliciously crispy and not greasy). Not only was the food and drinks great here but so was the price. With a total of 8 drinks 6 of which were B1G1 deals the total bill came to just under $50 before adding a tip. I must say we were extremely pleased with our visit and will be coming here again to try their other...
Read moreOk.. we just wanted to find a bar and grill to watch Saturday College football...and this was close ... found it on the map between Weeki Waxhee and Tarpon . Walked in, sat at the bar. And decided on a few specials.... First, the bang bang shrimp Deviled eggs! Oh man, do these two foods, deviled eggs and bang bang shrimp, just sound unusual together- but they absolutely hit it out of the ballpark on the combination!! Delicious!! Then my husband ordered the fried pork fritter! And I ordered a pulled pork quesadillas.... well, the fritter was pounded and fried to perfection! Presentation was outstanding with lettuce & fresh tomato .... my pulled pork sadly, was never to be 😞.. staff came out to let me know pork was not ready so chose the blackened shrimp Quesadilla!! It did not disappoint, shrimp were cooked just so!! Large and juicy, and quesadilla was just grilled perfectly... a little buttery, and gooey cheese, edges just slightly crispy!.. YUM!! And I forgot to mention the black beans and rice- so tasty, seasoned just right!!! I filled up on that before I started my quesadilla, as crazy as that sounds - they were just that good!! Ok, as usual at a bar, no cocktail menu, so come in knowing what you want. My bad! Maybe next time bartender will make some recommendations, even if they are aligned with their specials or bartending skills!! OVERALL please go here if you are looking for a casual atmosphere with great food with...
Read moreUpdate: We went tonight and my husband ordered the Churrasco Steak. It was supposed to skirt steak according by to the menu, but it was just a thin sliced sirloin. Very disappointing, especially for the $23 price tag. Also, I’d like to caution people to check their tabs. This is the second time the prices in ours haven’t matched the priced listed in the menu. The churrasco steak was rung up over $26 when it’s $23 on the menu. This is the second time we’ve noticed something has been run up incorrectly.
We tried Tailgaters Sports Bar & Grill tonight and were pleasantly surprised! While it may be a sports bar, they also have a really nice area in the back with plenty of tables and live music.
The food was fantastic — we had chicharrones, fried yuca, and the Hurricane Platter with Dominican sausage, fried cheese, and tostones. For appetizers, we ordered the Santa Fe egg rolls and salt & vinegar wings, which were easily the best wings we’ve had this far from Tampa. Everything was made fresh, flavorful, and well-priced.
The service was wonderful from start to finish. The menu has something for everyone, from Spanish dishes to burgers, wings, and weekly specials. On top of that, the restaurant is veteran-owned, offers a 10% discount for veterans, and even has reserved parking for veterans near the entrance.
Great food, great atmosphere, and great service —...
