Taverna on the Hudson has a beautiful location in a new building and across from water and the golf course. Unfortunately the food is mediocre and the drink service is slow.

I got the French martini which had chambord, vodka and pineapple juice. I only tasted chambord, which is okay because I love chambord but it was not a balanced drink at all. Also it was $17, which is expensive for drinks in Bayonne. I can get an excellent $14 cocktail elsewhere. My husband liked his old fashioned but it was way too smoky. The bartender also took 15 min to make the drinks even though there were two other people in the restaurant.

The waiters were friendly and nice. They could have been a bit more attentive or told us our drinks are taking a little longer and would be ready soon.

The lamb chops were $39 dollars, 4 grizzly pieces. It was disappointing because the flavor was so good. I was just licking it basically. I barely got any meat. They need to buy Australian lamb chops, those have the most meat. They buy bad/cheap quality. The salad it came with was large and delicious. It was drowning in dressing but at least I liked the dressing and it had lots of fresh veggies on it. Like onions, tomatoes and cucumbers. The lamb chops were on top of pita that was dry. My husband got the baba ganoush and it came with better fluffy pita.

The baba ganoush was a large portion with plenty of pita and I liked the garnish on top of fresh pomegranate seeds. He also got the spinach pie which was not spinach pie, it was more like a pastry or dumpling and had no cheese in it. It was not the typical layered spinach pie. And the spinach was very vinegary. They should describe it more on the menu to not mislead customers.

They did give complimentary olives at the start which was a nice touch. Another thing was that we had a wobbly table. They fixed it but really they should check the tables every night to make sure it’s not wobbly. To have to ask the waitress to fix it ruins the experience.

My wife and I recently visited Tavern on The Hudson visit for the second time, and I want to share our experience.

First and foremost, the food was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant to friends and family. The ambiance is truly beautiful, featuring tasteful decor inspired by golf courses and water themes, creating a relaxing and inviting atmosphere.

We also had the pleasure of meeting the manager and the owner, both of whom demonstrated professionalism, politeness, and courtesy. Their personal attention to guests truly reflects a strong commitment to customer satisfaction, and we greatly appreciated their hospitality.

The only aspect I found disappointing was the 18% gratuity charge. Having visited many excellent restaurants over the years, I believe that gratuity should reflect the quality of service provided. While I understand the challenges faced by bartenders and waitstaff, I believe that customers appreciate feeling comfortable, heard, and well-served. How staff handle situations—such as when a customer leaves the table—is crucial and should always be managed with a smile and genuine concern.

Additionally, it would be a wonderful enhancement if Tavern on The Room could feature live entertainment on certain days, such as a live jazz band or beautiful Arabic music. This would add to the vibrant atmosphere and provide guests with an even more memorable experience.

Despite this, I commend Tavern on The Room for their hard work and dedication. I wish them continued success and look forward to returning with my family and friends.

Thank you for providing a wonderful...

Loved the food and location! I think we came on and off day because they advertise pizza and certain drinks but the waitress didn’t know the name and said the pizza maker wasn’t there and pizza is only for the bar (bar food). A little confusing as they’re advertising through out the lounge the different pizzas. Anyway, One of the drinks we ordered that was also advertised on the screen was sub par. It was supposed to be a seasonal drink non alcoholic but we added vodka and it didn’t blend well. Side note: I think their usual bartender had the day off as well. Regardless, the food was delicious. We enjoyed our chicken and filet mignon kebabs, other drinks and baklava. I do have one issue regarding our check. We received our itemized check everything was correct and they included gratuity (18%). There was a link to pay with Apple Pay being the only option. So we waited for the waitress and gave our card, the new receipt or 2nd check now had the option to tip again with the final total which included the charged gratuity. In this day and age, either let us tip on our own or include the total tipping percentage you’re looking for on the gratuity. I refuse to tip over the previous tip and it’s not right to do to your patrons. We added the cash difference to make the 22% off of our original total but this was definitely a major turn off. Please change this! Also, include other options other than Apple Pay on the original...

This is my 3rd time eating at this restaurant, I've always liked their food but this time I was disappointed with my experience. We ordered a Tabbouleh but what came out was a plate full of parsley. I asked one their waiter what happened to the cracked wheat and why it was missing (the ingredients were written on the menu so I showed that to him also) and he had no idea what I was talking about. He said he was gonna go ask the kitchen but came back asking me "what is cracked wheat even?" How can a waiter not be knowledgeable about the food they are selling? Then a lady came by asking if everything is ok and I told her again the main ingredient of the Tabbouleh, which is some sort of cracked wheat, is missing. She also didn't know what I was talking about, she looked at the Tabbouleh on the table and she reacted like there was nothing wrong with it. She went to the kitchen to asked and she came back saying the wheat is already there mixed and I just can't see it. She kept insisting it's there and I just couldn't see it because it's small. In the end she came back with a tiny cup of the wheat to show and explain that this is what they mixed in there, as if I don't know what a real Tabbouleh looks like. I posted the pictures here guys, you tell me when did bulgur became microscopic and cannot be seen with naked eye. I'm still gonna come back for their meat tho.

I’ve dined at Taverna on the Hudson on two occasions, genuinely hoping it would impress, but I’ve consistently left underwhelmed and disappointed. The first time, I ordered three different drinks, hoping the bartender would understand my preferences. Unfortunately, each drink tasted progressively worse and extremely watered down, as if my requests were ignored altogether. I also live nearby and have ordered takeout twice, only to discover that the quality drastically diminishes with delivery. Dine-in meals are somewhat decent, but delivery is a completely different story: soggy, poorly packaged, and often missing items. Despite clearly listing instructions, they seem to go unnoticed. Today, I ordered a meal with a drink and sauce on the side. When the order arrived, the tenders looked sad and unappetizing, and both the drink and sauce were missing. Trying to resolve the issue, I called, only to be told I’d need to place (and pay for) another order to get what was originally missing. Essentially, they wanted me to spend more just to correct their own mistake. It’s no wonder the restaurant often seems empty. After multiple tries, I’m extremely disappointed and doubt I’ll be giving them another chance.
