I absolutely love pho and I was craving it today. I decided to search for a spot near the area where I’m being treated for PT and I found Pho Em. After reading the reviews, I knew I had found my dinner spot. I walked in and made my way to the counter where a young man (cashier/server) was completing a sale with a patron. Once he was finished I asked him if it was okay to seat myself since I wanted to dine in. He politely answered that I was welcome to seat myself wherever I desired. I found a seat at a booth and he immediately brought a menu and happily asked me if I wanted something to drink. I requested a glass of water. When he returned I ordered 1 little Vietnamese egg roll which I thought would be accompanied by a lettuce leaf and a side sauce but it didn’t. The guy who came out with the egg roll was rather cold and nonchalant. No smile and no acknowledgment. I was pleased that my egg roll was freshly made and piping hot just like I like it. Not long after, a young lady came out with my pho which was also piping hot and so delicious. It hit the spot and I have more than enough left over for lunch tomorrow. I really want to give Pho Em 5 stars but here’s the issue I had…the young cashier was AMAZING and the young lady that served my pho was polite and wore a smile. However, there was a woman whom I presume was the owner/manager who came out several times and sat in the restaurant. I could see her glance at me several times from my peripheral vision and not once did she bother addressing me. During the entire time I was in the restaurant, besides me, there was a gentleman who came in, ordered, ate and left. I grew up in a business that my parents purchased when we came to the U.S. and I KNOW the importance of quality customer service. I am currently a business owner and I know that your patrons are your bread and butter. It costs nothing to say “hello” or “good evening” or even “thank you for your business” it all goes a long way. This woman had ample time to make contact with me and build a positive rapport but she failed to do so. It’s unfortunate that she didn’t cease the moment with a kind gesture. It makes sense that the gentleman who came out with my egg roll had a similar demeanor… lead by example. As delicious as the food was, unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be returning to Pho Em. I have certain standards and expectations for the way that I’m treated especially when I’m spending my money at an...
Read moreThis was my first time ordering here and taking it out in July, 2024. I attempted to eat here on Monday afternoon, July 8th, following hurricane Beryl passing through Baytown with high winds. But they were closed by their only front entrance door was definitely locked. So today, Wednesday, was my actual first time, and I ordered the tasty Summer Spring Rolls with shrimp and their delicious Pho licious Pho. They included plenty of Sriracha chili sauce and Hoisin sauce for my spicy taste bud needs. Also, fresh Mung Bean Sprouts, as seen by my photos. I didn't eat it until around 4 p.m., and it was still so appetizing and filling. The only thing I needed to add at home was a metal fork in order to separate the cooked noodles instead of their small flimsy plastic fork. I will attempt to dine in at another time. It was rather busy at 2:05 p.m. on this Wednesday. And all their menus were occupied when I arrived to give my take-out order, so perhaps another time when I have a date. The only authentic Vietnamese restaurant that could rival here for a quality hot meal would probably be in Vietnam since there are many restaurants there to enjoy delicious Pho. Which makes your vacation in Vietnam highly worthwhile besides the beaches and sightseeing! For those who can't make it in your vacation plans, this is your best choice for authentic Vietnamese cooked meals in...
Read moreWe were looking for somewhere to grab a late lunch and found this place by accident. I am SO happy we decided to walk in and give it a try. We ordered milk tea with and without Boba, Pho and a Bahn Mi sandwich to take home for later. The Milk Tea was okay, a bit sweet for my personal taste compared to others that I've had, the boba was a different type then you usually get in the boba places. The Pho smelled, looked and tasted great. There was a bone with meat falling off it in the bowl that gave an extra rich flavor. The spoons were also great with ridges so you could hang it on your bowl so when you were eating with your chopsticks the spoon wouldn't fall into the broth. We are big fans of Pho and the broth here is the best in Baytown. The Bahn Mi beef sandwich also had a great flavor The restaurant is small, cozy and clean. The employees are great as well. The menu has a big variety including vegan and vegetarian options. I already look forward to trying some other items on the menu. We definitely will be back, and I recommend you...
