I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Hobby Lobby. My best friend and I were shopping in the arts and crafts section with her legally registered service dog when a police officer suddenly approached her, claiming she had been reported for abusing her dog. Shortly after, a second officerâa manâappeared, escalating the situation.
This allegation was completely false. The fact that two officers demanded she prove the legitimacy of her service dog is unacceptable. At one point, she briefly handed me her dogâs leash while she stood just a few feet away. The dogâs reaction made it abundantly clear: he fixated on her the entire time, whining to return to her side. The moment I let go, he ran straight back to her. Abused dogs do not run to their abusersâthey cower. The claim that she was "kicking and slapping" her service dog was not only baseless but also damaging.
Her dog followed commands flawlesslyâsitting, lying down, giving his paw, barking on cueâbut he is not a trick pony; he is a working service animal. The officersâ intervention distracted him from performing his job at a critical moment when my friend was already under stress, nearly experiencing a panic attack due to the wrongful interrogation.
To make matters worse, this all happened on her birthday. The officers took her full name, date of birth, and ID, yet we were given no information about them in returnâno names, no badge numbers, nothing. When I asked who made the report, I was told they "could not disclose that information." So, someone can make a false report with no consequences, while we are left with a traumatizing experience and no accountability from the authorities involved?
People need to understand that service dogs come in all shapes, sizes, and breeds. Their training and handling may look different, but that does not equate to abuse. A firm pat pat on the ribs is not mistreatment, a correction isn't abuse especially for a large male German Shepherd. The assumption that my friend was harming her service animal, simply because of an uninformed complaint, was completely unacceptable.
Hobby Lobby and the responding officers...
Read moreIf I could leave zero stars I would!! This Hobby Lobby has the WORST customer service and the employees look and sound as though they absolutely detest their jobs. However, this is the closest Hobby Lobby to me, so I just make sure I never need any help when stopping by at this location. Today, I had two small items to check out, and there was only one checkout line open with 4 people ahead of me. There were two other employees standing around at the front (near another register) so I walked to their line and asked if it was open, I was told no and that Iâd have to get in the other line. As soon as I got in line, they opened the other register I was asking and instead of signaling me to come over to the lane now open, she told me I had to remain in the line I was in. I looked behind me and there were 8 people. She called to the lady behind me and told her she would check her out and everyone else followed behind her. The line I was in appeared to have a family of 5 who were all checking out SEPARATELY!!!! So the two people in front of me were really seven. Mind you, this is in addition to the 8 people that were told they could go to another line!!!!! The lady checking out at my register was moving extremely slow. By the time it was my turn a total of 14 people had checked out ahead of me, 12 of those being people who were behind me in line. When it got to be my turn, the associate didnât even acknowledge me. She continued talking about the customer before me because they had an item being taken to their vehicle. I then had to wait 3 minutes for her to even start ringing up my two items. This store has the worst customer service ever. I have been calling the store to file a complaint and their phone...
Read moreSo I came in this store because looking online was not helping. First problem no isles were labeled, not with numbers or description. I was literally a lost lamb. I went thru 98 percent of that store trying to find my items. None of which I could find nor an employee. Finally eureka I found a helpful associate I'm sorry I didn't catch your name dark haired young with glasses. I love her to death I showed her a picture from their website she actually walked me over to the items. I thought my battle was over NOPE tell me why I struggled for about 10min trying to get the item from the display Everytime I got one it was ripped which explains why they were so many complaints online about the items when received are ripped . I'm a customer and I couldn't get it out I can imagine the employes moving forward off to the register we go . So why did this feel like it was Black Friday or a Xmas sale??? . They seemed to be staffed but the lines were not moving until I noticed something. They only had what appeared to be one young cashier and the rest were seasoned workers Don't come for me ..... . Come to think of it I probably should apply for a job. I don't know if this was one of the reasons for the hold up but the natives along with myself were restless. All I can say is I appreciate you guys not discriminating with age bias but please hire some more young workers to build those displays properly so your products won't keep being damaged and to run the register more efficiently this was a day in the middle of the week no holidays or weekends I should have been out in 10 not 30 min . All in all store very...
