Waffle House — Restaurant in Beaufort

My husband and I have been here 2 times with about the same experience both times. The first time the server took our drink orders and got half of us our drinks (4 to a table) and the other half we had to ask for - didn’t receive them till they were done eating, when we reminded her she said “Yeah I know, I need to get Ice from the back”- the tables were dirty, mind you it was about 6:30pm, only 1 other group inside with us... we did not receive any refills, I couldn’t get the servers attention because I wanted to add a Waffle to our order. I finally got to order my Waffle when she came by and asked my husband if we were ready for our check. The Second time we went, all the tables in the diner were nasty, neither the server or the cook were wearing hair nets (with long hair), the bathrooms were disgusting and smelled like pee. Our server took about 10 minutes to come greet us, when he greeted us he put a cup of silverware in a hot Water on our table because “they had water marks on them”.... he then took another 5-10 minutes to come back and ask what we wanted to drink.... we ordered our drinks - you would think that would be brought to our table within the next 5 minutes... no... it was brought to us AFTER our meal and when I said “can we have our drinks”.. we were never offered refills.. our food was good but the cook mixed up parts of the orders.. someone got chili on their hash browns when he ordered Gravy, the one that ordered chili on his got nothing on it, and the other order of hash browns had part of what was ordered on top minus the gravy. We will not be returning to this Waffle House, the one on the other side of the town has given me better service every time and...

First off, we love Waffle House and go to the same one every year when we vacation in Gulf Shores AL. But this experience in SC was totally different. We walked in and there was only 1 clean booth while the employees were all kind of standing around. A nice gentleman finally seated us and apologized that they had just had a huge crowd. We could tell he was a new employee, but was very pleasant and took our order. The whole time, the rest of the staff were standing in the prep area and just bickering at each other. They yelled at our waiter and said he was not calling out the order correctly, but never told him HOW to call it out. My wife's waffle showed up first, and about 5 minutes later her side order of bacon was delivered after he tried to deliver it to two other tables. My wife had finished half of her waffle when we heard the cooking staff bitching about how our waiter was calling out my order for a sausage sandwich and hash-browns. It had not even been started yet and we had ordered it better than 15 minutes earlier. We told them to just forget it and that we were very upset by their bickering. All of this was on top of the fact there was a drain issue in the prep area with water on the floor, and one staff member going between plunging the drain and cooking food. I don't even know where to begin. So first off I walk up and a girl is smoking a cigarette. When she comes back in she does not wash her hands. Next I walk up to the bar and there's dirty dishes across the whole bar. It took them almost 10 minutes to clear it and never wipe it down. While my food is being made I'm watching them make waffles and stack the plates on top of other waffles. So basically the bottom of the plate is sitting on top of someone's waffle. Then they got my order wrong. As I'm watching I see a girl eating while taken people order. Really? But what really pissed my off is, I guess they wash their dishes in front of the bar. While I'm eating this girl splashes dirty water and soap all over my food. Does not even apologize or anything. Just looks at me like I would have the audacity to be upset. Does not even attempt to make it right. I love waffle house but this is the first time I've been to this particular one. And I WILL NEVER COME BACK. They had 10 workers or so and that place was so discombobulated up and down. My waffle was burnt, my hashbrowns were soggy, but the eggs were good while I had a chance to enjoy them. There was one kid in there maybe 17 years old who did try to make it right but I just left. Shame on this...
