What really surprised me is that I was told J Wilsons restaurant is same owner? I arrived around 230pm on a Monday which at that time it was basically empty. I was really hungry so when they sat me by the bar I didn't change seating. Matt the service came over and asked what I was drinking. No hello, no welcome to JW Patio, no have you dined here before...no introduction...just what are you drinking. If I had a camera when I said "water" the look of disappointment spoke volume. Although I had time to look at the menu and was ready yo order he quickly spun around and began to walk away. I called him back and ordered a roasted butternut squash soup...he was gone again. The squash soup came warm, not hot! Hungry and not wanting to complain I ate it quickly. He never came back to ask how was the soup. I summoned him again and ordered the Cajun pasta Chicken. After about 40 minutes passed I was not updated on my meal. I called Matt H. again. He claim was that the restaurant received a huge togo order and my meal would come out shortly! We if that were true then my chicken pasta should come out steaming hot! Guess what? No it was not hot just warm and some parts actually room temperature. I took two bite and rather than wait for it to be reheated I asked for a to go box and a check! I told Matt the food was not served hot and he began to say differently! He got my pasta comped and no sorry or apology. I will not return! Check...
Read moreFirst things first, when we walked in people definitely gave us stares, my husband said , he had to look around and see if he seen any black people. The food was alright I had the crab stuffed salmon with crawfish risotto, grilled veggies & a side of skewered shrimp. Oh I also had French Toast (6 months pregnant appetite) but anyways, the best thing on my plate was the grilled veggies… they were well seasoned & they melted in your mouth. Other than that I didn’t like anything the risotto had a fishy taste, salmon could’ve been cooked a lil longer in my opinion & the French toast tasted like outside , idk it had a weird after taste. Plus $10 for one slice of toast is definitely over priced. The hostess was very weird when we first walked in , no one welcomed me and my husband in, there was also a small crowd at the front so I’m not sure if that’s why she took a while to ask us how many , but the least you can do is greet in coming customers. When we sat down we waited a good 20mins for someone to come greet us again, and when she came she only came for drink orders um ma”am were ready to order all that time she took before coming over to our table we had more than enough time to decide what we wanted. I really had wanted to speak with the manager about everything because he he service was that poor. I wouldn’t go back nor...
Read moreTonight my wife and I enjoyed our anniversary dinner at JW's Patio. She got the Texas wagyu steak special, and I opted for the crab stuffed salmon special. The service was excellent, the food delicious, the drink selection impressive for a fairly casual local restaurant.
The food in particular deserves a paragraph to itself. Our appetizer was the fried calamari and pepperocini aoili. Excellent breading and fry job, wonderful, flavorful sauce. My salmon came out with delicious sautéed veggies and a perfect risotto. Whoever planned the menu did an incredible job of pairing the flavors and textures, and the cooks did a great job with the salmon. Grilled salmon can be ten seconds from becoming a dry, crumbly, and unappealing mess. This was flaky, moist, and flavorful. My wife's steak came with rosemary potatoes and grilled asparagus and a creamy mushroom sauce. She took it medium-rare, and granted me a nibble. Probably the best steak I've ever had.
They do take reservations and I recommend getting your table in advance as the place was very busy tonight. We showed up and were seated almost immediately without a lengthy wait. 10/10, will be in the date night...
