I wasn't sure if I was going to make this review or not, but decided I'm going to. This place is awful. We were so excited to finally have an iHop here in Beaver Dam but waited a few months to try it out. My husband and I took our kids there and right off the bat, everything went wrong. First, they put us at two tables and they both looked like they had syrup smeared all over the entire table. We all got it all over ourselves because we didn't see it until we got it all over us and it was all over our menus. A woman came to clean it up but only "cleaned" 1/3 of the table with a wet wash cloth and the entire thing was still VERY sticky. We moved around to spots that weren't sticky and made it work anyway. Then we waited for a long time to get served. My bacon was barely cooked, very floppy. My biggest issue was that my eggs had a bug cooked into it! I told the waitress (one of them because we were 'served' by 3 different people so idk who was even the waitress/waiter, although we really liked the male one..) and she explained that that's never happened and brought my plate back. Like 5 minutes later she brings us the check and said they took off my entire meal. Cool, I guess, but where is it?? I ordered the sampler meal or whatever with a side of pancakes. They took the entire sampler meal so I only had the pancakes left. They literally never recooked my meal or said anything else about it. We waited for a long time with no answers so we left. But not before hearing one of the waitressed walk by our table saying something about having "too many ihop children already" whatever that meant. The whole experience was just awful and we won't...
Read moreThis restaurant is nothing compared to other IHOP elsewhere. Service is terrible, wait for ever to be seated and only a 1/3 of the tables are seating people. Wait for food forever, wait for server to take order, have to flag the server down to pay the bill or to get a drink refill. Server was polite and apologized often, so have stopped in a few times only to see the same service. The last visit I was told the wait would be 20 min, yet they were only using about half the the tables. I waited about 30 min and watched family after family be seated after walking in the door during this time period. So.eone was also waiting where I was and they said they were waiting for carry out and their order was wrong. They brought out their food but they didn't bring it all out and they had to wait for them to make their food that they apparently hadn't. The server asked me for what order I was waiting for and I said I wasn't waiting for an order at all but was told.the seating wait was 20 min even thought they were seating everyone else that was walking in the door. He apologized and was polite, it was not his fault I was not seated. Whoever is managing or supervising this restaurant should be ashamed of themselves. A few if the servers are trying but most of the staff are not interested and working hard or realize what it takes to be in the restaurant business. Again a few of the staff are trying but they are far and few between. A manger should be able to sit off to the side and observe how bad the service is. It's unfortunate IHOP is usually a pretty choice, but not...
Read moreI don't generally leave reviews that aren't positive, but the experience we had this morning definitely warrants one. Our waitress, Angel, did a great job. That was the positive from our experience. The food came out pretty slow which I could live with/ understand if they were busy, but they definitely were not. It also arrived not entirely cold, but was on the cool side of warm. I'm aware that some of the food is not prepared fresh and is simply warmed up before being served, but there should at least be a bit of illusion imo. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs. The steak was cool-ish, and had a lump of congealed gravy with a skin on it. All of the pancakes that came with our meals were only slightly warmer than room temperature, and the butter had clearly come straight out of the refrigerator, and since the pancakes were not hot, would not melt or spread and just ripped the pancakes apart. To top it off, my daughter found a piece of eggshell in her eggs benedict. I didn't say anything to Angel because I'm not looking for an apology or a comped meal or anything like that. IHOP has good food and plenty of potential, and I'd like to visit regularly, but they have to find better cook staff or management that can make sure that the food is being properly prepared. For the amount of money they charge, I expected quite...
