Seasweets has the absolute best Poke on the planet. My complaint is not about the quality or their food, because that is superb. My complaint is that their prices keep going up recently. I understand that inflation is happening at unprecedented levels, but business owners can still make a conscious effort to help curb inflation at their level periodically for the greater good of society or at least raise prices at a slower rate if they must raise them. I’ve seen them extremely eager to raise prices on multiple occasions after having steady prices for a few years. What was even more disappointing was when I was in there today, in addition to dramatic price increases they were very stingey today with portions. I paid extra for sides which is typical for me to get multiple meals out of the bowl since it is my favorite, and the gave me 1/3 the normal tofu they normally give and substantially smaller scoops of poke and they were out of white rice.
The most disappointing was bringing my mom to visit today because she was in the mood for poke and since this is my favorite I wanted to share that with her. We drove half an hour to get there, that’s how much I love this food. Since she recovered from COVID almost a year ago she has had lots of issues with her tastes, with a particular aversion to anything onion, despite loving them before COVID. We asked for plain Poke without onion as her protein(all of the pre-made ones have sweet onion or scallion or both) so she could still enjoy it and they informed me that the owner has explicitly said they weren’t allowed to do that. We were really disappointed all around today. The first time I left dissatisfied. With COST, PORTIONS and lack of flexibility to work with people who have...
Read moreI use to love this place! I have ordered the salmon poke here at least 30 times since the pandemic. Unfortunately, the service and quality of food has gone way downhill. Today, I ordered an extra serving of Poke, and asked for the spicy miso sauce to be on the side (so the crispy onions don't get soggy) this is the first time at this location that they didn't do that for my order (and completely did not include the extra $4 serving of poke and some other toppings), which was very disappointing. However, my main issue was that the salmon smelled and tasted WAY more fishy than normal - an indicator of old fish. I could not eat even half of the meal, when I usually eat the whole bowl (even though its way more than I should eat). The flavor was just wrong, and on top of that, the rice was crunchy and dried out. Also, the last few times I have ordered from here they have been out of masago, which is annoying, but not a big deal. I have had issues like this with the one in Portland before, but never at this location. I really hope they go back to using the high quality, fresh seafood they use to - but in the mean time, I cannot eat here anymore due to health concerns (I have never ordered on a Sunday before, so maybe that is the issue?). 2 stars ONLY because they use to be consistently great, elsewise, it would have only...
Read moreThis is my favorite poke place - I’ve been coming to this location (and the Portland one) since I moved this way in 2019. I MISSED it when I lived down south for like 2 years and would frequently stop when visiting friends. Their spicy tuna is my favorite, but I also love the truffle salmon, and their kimchi corn is amazing.
I usually DoorDash, but what few interactions I’ve had with the staff have always been so friendly and they’re always on top of making sure my orders right. I’ve never had a wrong order from Seasweets. Truly the sweetest people ever. What spurred me to finally write a review is my door dasher never delivered my order (RIP) so I reordered and got the same thing I did like 30 minutes prior - one of the employees (didn’t get their name) called and wanted to make sure everything with my bowl was okay, and offered me anything on the side or a free drink even tho they didn’t do anything wrong. Just super empathetic and kind.
I hope everyone there knows they’re doing a great job, and they’re appreciated. I know food service can be very difficult and unrewarding...
