Today, I took my Mom for lunch at OIP, used to eat there a lot, food was always delicious. Today I ordered a "special", Italian sub with sm. fries and a drink. I ask for it "baked" ( as I had done numerous times before) and was told that I could only get the sub special "cold"..if I wanted it hot, I had to order the items separately and pay a higher price. I didn't ask for anything "extra" or added, just wanted the cheese to be melted and the sandwich hot. So, thinking that maybe the waitress misunderstood, I stated that to her and she tells me the same thing again. I had ordered a slice of pizza as well, which THEY HEAT UP IN THE OVEN, but they would not do the special heated. Ok...so I still order the items separately with Italian dressing on the side. My Mom ordered a piece of pizza and a chicken Parm sandwich special as well. Pizza comes out first, it's good. The rest comes out and the waitress forgets the dressing, no biggie... she's gonna grab one, which I get about 10 minutes later. (Poor thing though, she was mainly by herself)...Still, no biggie, I understand...Eat my now cold sub, lol, that I have paid 4.00 more for because it was heated. I get the bill and I check, because I always do...and notice that two pieces of pizza are totalled to 4.00.. 2.00 a piece but the menu said 1.95 each. I am not going to make a big deal, probably an error. I go to pay and I see a menu on the counter and it is 1.95, and the fries are showing 2.75 but my bill shows 3.00, and my Mom's meal which showed 8.25 on the menu was 9.75 on the check...the owner notices that I notice and says that the prices are different than what the menu states and that he can't be making new menus everytime he changes prices. I told him that I feel ripped off and that the menus should have correct pricing or at the least, the wait staff should tell customers that the prices are higher. He starts telling me that my waitress did tell me, which she did not, then starts telling me that this is the culture we live in now, where everyone does this and if he has to print new menus he'll go out of business. He says his waitress is young and doesn't know any better(this is after already telling me that she told me about the price difference). I told him this is not the culture, this is dishonesty...he could charge whoever, whatever he wanted for the same item. He continued to rant at me that this is the way business is done now and I better get used to it. No, I just won't ever go back and hopefully more people will call him out....(or maybe he could just print new menus with honest,...

I recently visited the Original Italian Pizza (OIP) in Bedford, PA, and unfortunately, it was far from the experience I was hoping for. Service started off decent—our order was taken promptly, and the staff seemed friendly at first. However, once the food arrived, the cracks began to show.
I ordered an 8-slice pizza with anchovies, expecting a flavorful, well-balanced pie. The crust itself was the best part—crispy on the outside with a nice chew—but the toppings were undercooked and noticeably lacking. Most surprising (and frustrating) was the anchovy situation: on the entire pizza, there were maybe two or three small pieces in total. When I asked the server about it, she nearly put her finger in my food to point one out and casually said, "Yeah, they don't put a lot on the pizza when you order those," before walking away. No apology, no offer to correct it, nothing.
To make matters worse, drink refills never came. We sat with empty glasses for most of the meal. Portion sizes were also disappointing—especially considering the price. For a place with “Original Italian Pizza” in the name, I expected a hearty, authentic serving. Instead, I got something that felt skimpy, rushed, and overpriced.
Between the underwhelming pizza, lack of attention from staff after the food arrived, and the high price point, this was not a place I’d recommend. The crust had promise, but everything else fell short. Bedford has better options, and unless significant improvements are made, I won’t be...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I are from Bedford and have gone to OIP for several years. Over the past year the service and food quality have significantly decreased. Recently, we planned on seeing a movie which the doors open to at 7. Therefore, we got to the restaurant at 5:45 to allow enough time to eat and get to the movie down the street. As previous experiences have taught us you need to allow alot of time for the service. Little did we know it would take over 20 min to be talked to for our order, an additional 15 min to get our drinks, an additional 15 min to get our salads and bread, and yet an additional 15 min to get our food. It was an hour before everything got to our table. We did not have time to eat any of it and had to have it boxed. The waiter and owners were apologetic as they are everytime this happens, which is every time we go in there unless it is a random tuesday evening at 4:00 or some similar off peak time. I ended up paying 30 dollars for a medium stromboli and spaghetti (spag was cold because it set too long waiting to be delivered to the table) and the owner who who was there cashing people out knew it too forever and our meal was basically ruined and didn't offer anything to make the situation right. This is not a one time occurrence. I recommend only going there on Friday evening if you seriously have 2 hours to eat. As previously stated this review is not based on a one time occurrence. We will not...
