Before I get into the details of my review, I want to make it perfectly clear that being of certain ethnic origin (does) make a difference in how the food taste to you due to culture & familiarity. With that said, I am Vietnamese and I personally think this place is “ok”. I was curious that the restaurant received high ratings so I tried them out. The food wasn’t amazing, but it wasn’t horrible. I ordered their deluxe Pho test the quality of the dish, considering it was a Pho restaurant. I can tell the minute the food got to the table that due to the presentation of the dish, it was either going to be bad or ok tasting. There was not enough fresh herb leaves served with the bean sprout. From my previous experiences, Vietnamese pho restaurants who serve little to not side plates of veggies are usually due to the fact that their most of their customers are not of the culture and would usually not eat them with the pho. Traditionally, pho is best eaten ((with)) all of the herb leaves to complete the full taste of Pho. I noticed that before adding any condiments to the pho, the broth does seem to taste fairly decent. Like I said, it wasn’t the best but it wasn’t the worst either. The meat provided in e dish was a good amount but still a little bit on the “not enough” side. Overall, I ordered 3 dishes to test the quality of the food. I ordered the deluxe Pho, pork/shrimp spring rolls & chicken fried rice. I give them all an ok rating. The place is run by Vietnamese people. My guess is the certain adjustments were made to the dishes because the majority of Non-Vietnamese customers weren’t use to how certain dishes should be eaten. I don’t really place the short comings of the quality of the food on the restaurant for that. To wrap it up, if you are NOT Vietnamese or if you are, and are really familiar and tied to the traditional flavor of Vietnamese food, then this place is ok to try...but not the best. However, if you are not Vietnamese and have no idea of the traditional tastes of Vietnamese cooking then you will probably LOOOOVE this place. What I’m saying is if I was a foreigner & went to Texas and thought that McDonalds had an Amazing McRib sandwich and compared that to good BBQ before I’ve even tried the REAL BBQ from a place like The Pecan Lodge. In any case, give this place a...
Read moreWe were regulars at Pho V. This is my favorite pho spot to go to and I’ve brought in so many of my family & friends here. The service has always been incredible and the food has always been delicious. Today, my family & I went to eat there and there we were seated in a crowded area and we just did not feel comfortable because we wanted to be more secluded from everyone else and just enjoy eating peacefully with not many people around us. We asked if we could be moved else where (there was an open booth that seats a table of 6 available) and we were refused twice. The old person gave us a TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE attitude and did not even try to understand why we want to switch tables. He was extremely RUDE and not understanding. We immediately got up and left. We did not expect this kind of service from a place we have been coming to for 10 years and we also go to V’s house (their sister store). Just because you’re doing well in your business does not give you the right to be rude. We left that place and we are NEVER coming back there. Just because we wanted to sit 6 ft. elsewhere, we had to leave because we were refused to sit somewhere we felt more comfortable. The old person really let us down and his attitude made us extremely disappointed. He’s the reason we won’t be coming back and we will be telling everyone about this terrible service.
We didn’t ask for much. All we asked was to sit us on the other side where there was an unoccupied table that could seat up to 6. Also, the response was that “that table is not for service” however, when every table around that table is occupied what...
Read moreDear Reader,
If you are looking for a quick positive or negative comment about this beloved establishment, then this is not the google review for you.
Phô V deserves more than a mere thumbs up review. Much like a woman you marry, who you continue to grow with and learn more about each day, I continually discover new reasons to love Phô V.
For instance, today I learned that only 20 feet on the other side of the restaurant there is a designated area for to-go orders. A restaurant I have been going to for a ages, and this convenient quirk of its personality remained hidden to me.
I walked in the door, and—upon informing him that I regrettably cannot dine in tonight and needed my order to go—the host promptly escorted me to the back, revealing the to go order counter.
Maria, an amazing employee and Phô V representative, smiled and helped us order—making us aware of the many pitfalls that accompany taking Phô to go; like the meat coming raw on the side. However, she reassured us that—if this traditional custom was too overwhelming for our American need for instant gratification—she can have it cooked and combined with the Phô for us. She is a great example of the kind of service and quality that I have come to expect from a restaurant that has nothing in its sights other than excellence.
I married this restaurant for its amazing food, but I keep finding new endearing qualities about...
