Smokin Jim's BBQ and Steakhouse — Restaurant in Bedford

I don't usually write reviews, but for this place, I must. We are here in Indiana for my brother's funeral and to bring his ashes home back to New Jersey. After all the ceremony was over, we found this place close to our hotel to have dinner with all 8 of us. The food and atmosphere were warm and inviting, and the aroma of the meats smoking in the back just took over and made us all even more hungry. The food was amazing, but what was more amazing was the people who worked there. At the end of our dinner, the pastor from our funeral was there eating too and saw us and gave us some kind words after he was leaving. We get ready to pay and then someone had paid for our bill and that just made all of us especially my mom start crying and so happy and feeling so blessed. But what happened next was more amazing every staff member in the restaurant came over to our table and began to pray for all of us and put all there hands on my mother and just prayed even other people there that was eating too began to pray as well they are all praying for the lose of a loving son brother and father Adam Howard. I couldn't believe the love and support those people in that restaurant showed us. That was a true blessing from God and from my brother who is now in heaven. I just want to thank everyone in that restaurant so very much you have touched my and my family's heart and we are forever grateful. If we are ever back up this way again we will definitely come back to this restaurant for the food and for the love and support from these absolutely beautiful people. Thank you all and may God...

I cannot speak highly enough of this establishment. I am in Bedford at least once a month, and I can honestly say that the food and service are so good that I plan my sales visits around their business hours. Most recently, I needed a catering order on VERY short notice. I finally got a head count a few days before the meeting; on a day which the restaurant was closed. I had made my peace with having to get the food elsewhere, but I went ahead and tried. I had to. I called and left a voicemail, then found their Facebook page, and sent a message. Just before I called a few local pizza places to order that instead, I opened my phone to a response letting me know that taking my order on the establishment's day off was no problem. I was then informed that not only could they take a catering order under those circumstances, but that I could even pick it up before they even opened their doors for the day!!! Literally the only criticisms I'd suggest would be putting the baked bean container in plastic bags (which honestly was only necessary because of how much handling was necessary from restaurant, to car, to mobile buggy, to conference room, and to let catering customers know that they'll need their own serving utensils. Honestly though, that's on me for not asking. Some places provide them and some do not. Also, they literally took my order on a day off. The criticisms aren't even worth a partial star deduction. The BBQ pulled pork.... I haven't had such a soft, melty experience since I lived in Louisiana 8+ years ago. A slightly sweet tang to the BBQ, which we got with pepper jack on the toasted bun. The toasted bun was also the perfect texture, almost like a crispy Texas toast. It didn't need anything else. I could eat the pork by itself.

Also had the beef brisket which was very good. It had a drier mouth feel to it, but the rendered fat made up for it.

The fries are traditional stealth coating fries, so they are a satisfying crunchy texture.

Onion rings were a different kind of sweet onion than I'm used to but they were good. The batter was very crunchy, the onions themselves weren't too thick.

The mozzarella sticks are best as soon as they come out, and they can stretch quite far when broken in half. :P They are kind of small, but they are seasoned with an herby breading.

It was our first time going here, so we were pleasantly surprised. Very clean and organized inside. We happened to come in when it wasn't very busy. I'll probably be ordering the BBQ pork to go and have it at home or to take to work sometime in the future.

I'm assuming they're closed for three days to give prep time to some of the meats, which would certainly justify the price imo. Even so, still very reasonable considering fast food prices these days.
