I've never been to such a terrible "upscale restaurant" in my life. On second thought I wouldn't even consider this much of upscale. Either way the amount of things that were awful that stood out to me on my dining experience here is ludicrous.
I made a reservation online and we arrived a little early, so there was no table for us. I asked if it was possible to get a call or text when our table was ready so we could stroll the shops near by. We got a text about the time of our reservation. The restaurant was fairly busy that night.
It took quite a bit of time for our server to come grab drink orders from us. We ordered water and a beer in the bottle. Some how he managed to get the order as a draft and told us we should just drink that one and he would get us a bottle after we finished the draft.
The first dish we got was the Agadashi tofu. He brought no plates with the dish so we could share. I asked him for plates and he said he had to go find some and hoped he could find some. Took him about 5-10 minutes to "find" plates. That is absolutely crazy to me, that he had to go find some, it's a restaurant that serves food.... that should have plates. Any ways, the dish was awful, it was the most bland, tasteless Agadashi tofu I have ever eaten. There was no flavor to it what so ever. I even split my tofu and let it sit in the sauce for a little to absorb some flavor, and that still didn't help.
Our soy sauce bottle was empty so I placed it with the open cap on the edge of our table for our server or any employee actually to notice that it was empty. Multiple people who even brought dishes to our table or walked by didn't notice. When our server finally came back to take orders I let him know and he had to go get help filling it.... I even asked once during our dinner if they had anything besides low sodium soy sauce, and he said the kitchen cooked with it and it's in a barrel back there he might be able to get me some. Never came back with any soy sauce, and I'm sure they do not cook with it with the lack of taste and flavor on their dishes.
My friend ordered the $40 sushi chef special and I ordered the Bento box, but the bento box came out much after the sushi dish did, so I was waiting for quite a while without food. It seemed the items were fairly cold in my bento box anyways. I'm pretty sure our server forgot to put in our Kushiyaki orders because those came out basically at the end of our meal. In addition to they were also cold as well. The weird thing was the bacon wrapped asparagus was on a skewer, but the asparagus I guess had fallen out of the skewer and was just shoved somewhere on the dish....
I also asked for more rice and I was told the restaurant was out of rice and there was only brown rice if I would like some. Which is strange for a sushi restaurant to be out of rice. I asked for the brown rice anyways and that took quite a bit of time to bring out, but it was hot at least, so I guess it was made fresh.
We ordered mochi and it was absolutely the worse mochi I have ever eaten. It was old and tasted like it had freezer burn. It was disgusting I had to spit it out because it was so terrible. I've had better mochi coming from the grocery freezer!
Overall the worse $140 I've ever spent! I would never recommend it or return. I'm shocked they even have business and are rated so high. What a disaster for...
Read moreWe ate at Tadashi for our anniversary and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was great, very cute and calm, played great music, smelled and looked clean. Our server was David and he was awesome! Very attentive but not annoying at all. The food was phenomenal. The miso soup was some of the best I have had. So flavorful! The crispy tuna rice appetizer was so yummy with the two opposites of the tuna and the crunchy, sticky rice and then the zing of the red onion was just great. We had the filet mignon skewer and it was good but not good enough to need it again. We had the Kiss the Fire roll and it was so fresh and awesome. I was surprised to have such sound sushi in bee caves honestly but we will be back! My fiancé had the Tonkatsu Pork Bento box and ate it all! The BBQ sauce with the pork is key as the batter is a bit on the less flavorful side but the dish was great variety and awesome. I loved the gyoza that came with that. Def would get a set of that next time. I had the Galbi (short ribs) and they were AWESOME. So flavorful, fresh, grilled to perfection and well prepared. We loved our experience at Tadashi and will 100% be back. It is a pricier menu than most. Sushi usually is but all around this menu is higher but the quality was there, service was great, variety was great and it was worth it to me. We sat at the sushi bar too and were just as comfortable as we would’ve been at a table. Thanks for an awesome anniversary meal, Tadashi!
Update: 11/2 - we went back and had another wonderful meal!! Photos added. My fiancé had eel Donburi and he really loved it. I had sushi rolls and gyoza and loved both! Their miso soup is to...
Read moreMediocre food, terrible service, kinda meh atmosphere, especially for the price.
Service fails: it took 10 minutes and me flagging down a server to get my order taken (on a relatively calm Thursday evening, they werent even full) My server mistakenly gave me chicken teriyaki instead of chicken katsu. No biggie, but it took another 5 mins to flag down another server to fix that. That dude was super weird about the whole thing and asked me to scoop out my teriyaki onto a separate plate while he got me what I actually ordered. Which was rather annoying to do with chopsticks. Weirdest experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant over 20$. Pretty sure you arent allowed to give that to someone else. Ordered edamame, never got it, still was on the check.
Overall: skip, especially for the price (80$ for two people) and location. you can easily drive an extra 4 minutes to Bon Sushi off 620 which is the same price but SIGNIFICANTLY...
