I am a huge fan of Ethan Allen because its high-quality furniture and top-notch interior designers are unmatched in the industry. If you are looking for an interior designer in Austin, I highly recommend Kris Armen.
I have worked with several designers in multiple cities over the last 30+ years, and Kris is one of the best. I have lived in two homes since we met in 2016, and she has done fabulous things with both. In my previous home, Kris created a new modern look in the loft with four reupholstered chairs, a gorgeous rug, framed art, and a midcentury media cabinet. She also helped me select a striking living room sofa, coordinating chair, entry mirror, and framed art. I also put her expert drapery skills to work in a bedroom that needed room-darkening treatments.
When I moved to my new home, Kris utilized existing furniture, artwork, and accessories to the extent possible, offered design solutions, and incorporated additional items as needed. She sold me window treatments, which included woven shades, custom curtains, and automated roller shades. I replaced builder-grade lighting with gorgeous Ethan Allen chandeliers with Kris’ help. The most dramatic change was a complete modern makeover of the master bedroom, which included a bed, night tables, chair, rug, artwork, unique lamps, accessories, bedding, and a bold steel blue wall paint that coordinates perfectly. Finally, I love my new sectional sofa because the family, including the pups, can all sit together. The woven textured floor lamp, upholstered barrel chair, transitional console table, and serving table were also great additions.
Kris knows what works (and does not), listens to my wants/needs, and offers design solutions that make sense. I want my home to be beautiful, spacious, functional, yet affordable, and she considers all that in her recommendations. Kris promptly answers my texts and emails, provides timely status updates, and has a great personality. I have recommended her to...
Read moreI ordered 1 yd samples of fabrics paying full price as I wanted to see the fabrics in my home before selecting. I did not try to borrow the samples from the store bec in the past they loaned samples only by picking up at 5p near closing time and returning first thing in the morning by 10a opening time. I found E.A. to be tense and tight about samples and further, it was a long drive to visit the store. It took over 4 weeks to get the samples having paid over $80 for 3 samples. When the samples are shipped, they do not notify you. There is poor customer service and communication. The website is unattractive, and shows the colors wrong on the screen in the store. They also squeeze the patterns down on the website to get the whole pattern in, but it can be a much more spacious pattern when you see the real fabric. So the representation is incorrect. The fabric samples they send free of charge are 4" square. For a large pattern most of the colors are not even present on the freebie sample. The free samples are almost useless and silly. That's why I purchased 1 yd samples. I would have preferred 1/2 yd, but not available. There is the poorest representation of fabrics photoshopped onto furniture on the website, so that you can see the pattern on the furniture; they are just beginning to do this sparingly. Their website is not user friendly at all. While all the furniture in my house is Ethan Allen, I do love the look, I do not enjoy working with them. I strongly felt that once the designer came to my very modest condo to show her wares, she dropped me as not representing enough money. And I felt unwelcome when asking to borrow samples of fabric with the rules that were applied being so unfriendly and the taking of credit card to borrow samples when I had shopped there and had an account. The only good thing I would say is that I love their...
Read moreI don't write many reviews, but this experience was special and deserves a 5-star review. These are weird times with COVID-related inventory issues and our purchase was certainly caught up in these issues. I'll spare you all the details; however, when we only received a partial shipment and the balance got delayed twice and was now to be expected in December of 2021, I kindly requested they pick up what they had delivered as I would find another option. I then received a call and email from the owner, Joe Chesnick, to apologize for the delay and to let me know he was working with his team to find a solution. Within a week, he was able to secure the remaining items and have them delivered. I had the opportunity to speak with him and he even followed up with an email after the furniture was delivered. It was evident that this was an owner who loved what he does and takes great pride in ensuring his customer's are highly satisfied. The furniture is beautiful, the prices were reasonable, and while the experience wasn't perfect, I understood the current inventory constraints and was just floored by the lengths they went to in order to ensure we were...
