Birds Nest BBQ — Restaurant in Bel Air

I was surprised reading some other recent reviews that there were different types of sauces to choose from. What a pity that the girl who served me didn't say a word about it even though I told her it was my first time eating at Bird's Nest. The sauce for my half-slab of ribs was rather flavorless, I would have much preferred something with some kick to it, or at least some zest for goodness sake. Frankly, what I got tasted almost store-bought (quite comparable to Sweet Baby Ray's) and I expect more from a brick-and-mortar BBQ place. In fairness, the portion was generous and the meat was well-cooked, something that a lot of places get wrong (I should not need a knife and fork to eat a slab of ribs). Finally, it rubbed me the wrong way that none of the tables outside were set up and there was apparently no dine-in option (I ended up awkwardly sitting on the end of a picnic table half-covered with stacked up outdoor tables and chairs). For ribs, it just seems weird to me to get them all wrapped up instead of on a plate. Honestly, I don't really get it, as even the most fastidious people I know declared the pandemic over at the end of March. Maybe I'll try again once I can actually eat my food outside without feeling...

I don't know where to start but Not only was the girl on the phone when we ordered not very pleasant with my girlfriend, I supposedly was given Cajun wings after ordering cajun, but that definitely fooled me me, because I didn't see any spices nor taste anything. They also forgot the blue cheese. Next, my girlfriend got the turkey and macaroni and cheese, and I tried the macaroni and cheese, because she said taste this, and it was the most bland awful macaroni and cheese I have ever had. Lastly, we called back & spoke to possibly the owner or a manager who was a male, & he said next time he would take care of us, but didn't take any of our information down. I hate giving bad reviews, but this was my 1st experience there, & definitely a failure. We like to try different places, & 1st impressions are key. I gave an extra star bc the wings were good even though they were bland, & the owner manager made an attempt...

Loved hanging out at Alecraft next door, getting food delivered from Birds Nest! Between our table of 6 we got: ribs with the gold & Ravyn sauce, hush puppies, fried green beans, burger sliders, someone else got huge amazing salad might've been the grilled chicken. The Ravyn sauce had a mild to medium burn, the the gold sauce was an excellent Carolina mustard style sauce, the ribs were perfectly fall-off-the-bone done. Not everyone loves hush puppies, we do, these were on par. The slides were perfect, they didn't skimp on the beef. And the fries beans - AMAZING. They didn't even need the dipping sauce. They were crispy outside, & not at all mushy inside. One of our table said that was the most green beans he'd eaten since childhood. The service was fast too. Great collaboration between Alecraft & BirdsNest too. Holding off on 5 stars till we try more of the menu. Prices...
