I am happy we have a DQ in Bella Vista, and hope it remains here. That said, I have noticed a lack of Safe Handling Practices (ServSafe standards). Tonight I ordered a banana split. The girl who was at the counter had her hands in a bucket of water cleaning the counter took my order, using the register and handling the credit card. She then proceeded to make the order by cutting open the banana, scooping it out with her bare hands, it broke into pieces and she threw it across the room into the garbage, saying that's why she hates making these. She repeated the action, scooping the banana out with her dirty bare hands, and when she handed it to me I asked why she didn't wear gloves to handle food. She said only the people in the back have to wear gloves and that she really didn't handle food. I pointed out that she scooped the banana out with her bare hands and had handled the register and counter without washing her hands. I explained that I was immune compromised and would like her to make me another one but to wear gloves. She asked me what she was suppose to do with the one she made and tried to get me to just take that one. I asked for my money back at that point. She got her manager, a lady with blond hair. I stated the people handling food need to wash their hands and wear gloves. The manager said they don't "really" handle food, I then explained how she scooped the banana out with her bare hands after working on the resister and cleaning the counter. The manager did not apologize, just looked mad, gave me my money and huffed away. I tried to be patient with their behavior, attitude and bad business practices but that was a bit much.    Read moreI took my granddaughters to Dairy Queen in Bella Vista and was so disappointed in the customer service. We all have bad days, but when my granddaughter asked a question about her order, she left feeling like she was being a pain in the neck to the associate and was so upset that she begged me to leave without getting her order. I told her I would take care of getting it since I paid for it, but she felt humiliated, and begged to leave.
My granddaughter is shy and soft spoken, so the associate may not have heard her. My other granddaughter said the associate seemed like she was agitated and annoyed. I am so sad that she had this experience.
This was my first time to visit. I haven't been to a DQ in over 20 years. I was excited to have this afternoon treat. This is my first low review on google reviews, and I hope the management will read it and possibly provide additional training to their employees, ensure everyone is able to take a break when needed, check-in on how their staff is doing health wise, etc. since the well-being of their associates will have an impact on their customers.

I then waited inside by the mobile pick up sign for about 7 minutes with employees walking by and making eye contact without addressing me at all. Finally I asked who I should talk to about a pick up order. They found my ticket and then told me they would begin my order. So it wasn't done anywhere close to my pick up time. In addition the store was disgusting. Sooo many Flies and gnats flying and crawling everywhere, trash overflowing out of the trash can and trash on the floor. Food crushed into the floor and spills everywhere. I ordered two choco brownie extreme blizzard and they had no brownie or anything in it it was literally just ice cream. I also ordered a royal New York cheesecake blizzard and it was the same. No cheesecake bites no graham cracker no strawberry anything. Worst waste of money.
