The Waffle Shop Bellefonte — Restaurant in Bellefonte

My husband, 2 sweet little pups and I were Fall leaf peepin’ en route to western states. After a smelly night in the red roof inn, we stopped at The Waffle Shop about 30 miles down the road. I will share the good, the bad and the ugly. The good: breakfast was quick, bacon was even faster, the service was good with constant refills of coffee, and they offer local Pennsylvania cuisine such as creamed chipped beef. The bad: they don’t seat you unless the whole party has arrived, there is a revolving door of men using the restroom, cash only which definitely means money laundering, and the cashier continually counted money in the open, teasing the peasants with her wads of cash. The ugly: the creamed beef might give you the runs, and there is a vicious battle between the original owner who now owns the “original waffle shop”, he sounds like a total sleeze ball! Apparently under new ownership & not the quality of food or service previously enjoyed at this local “favorite”. The home fries were almost burnt & tasteless & were cold, my California Eggs Benedict had very thin slices of avocado & paper-thin tomato & the English muffin was not toasted & was extremely thin. And they do not have Tabasco for the eggs, just Frank’s hot sauce. All 3 of us remarked that we will never return because of the food, the serving staff, & lack of detail to customer service. Our family always looked forward to Sunday breakfast at the Waffle Shop where friendly efficient servers welcomed us & made sure we had a pleasant experience; now all that is gone, replaced by staff that isn’t attentive, forgets beverages & other ordered items, and, quite frankly, doesn’t seem to care about their appearance or the experience of...

I really did like this place, the staff was super friendly and attentive to the table even if the restaurant was packed. They were quick on their feet and always had coffee at the ready. The food was really good to it came out at an appropriate time and tested better than expected considering the low price. As for the "low price" it turned out it was not really that low at all I'm not sure what happened but somehow our $20 order turned out to be $25 and the cash only restaurant dooped us. Whenever I checked Where I find fault in the restaurant is the couple flies buzzing around my head and my boyfriends head.
