My one liner review – Go to Panda Express.
What?! Why is this place so popular? Is the review only coming from people who are unwillingly ignorant of the authentic cuisine? I simply don’t understand the hype of this place. It’s not just about the google reviews either, I hear from my coworkers that this place is amazing. So having heard so much about this place, I gave it a try, actually three times.
If I want to get this level of food at this price, I would rather go to Panda without a doubt in the future. The reason why I went back three times is because I wanted to give them more chances. I thought the dish I ordered on my first visit was just the bad one and there must be other really good dishes. But no, after three tries, I am done with this, never returning. So here are the dishes I ordered. Mongolian beef, shrimp fried rice, happy family, human beef, chow mein. Mongolian beef was the very first dish I tried and.. terrible,, was the word I spitted out after the first bite. If you’re expecting the same old Mongolian beef you can get at other Chinese restaurants in the US, you will be disappointed because it’s not the same. I mean c’mon, Chinese people living in China do not even eat Mongolian beef; there’s no Mongolian beef in China! The Mongolian beef we know living in the US is made in the US, it’s 100% Americanized (a bunch of sugar and soy sauce in it). But here, it’s different. They created their own version and it is even worse. Other above-mentioned dishes were also mediocre at best, so this place deserves 3 stars at best. Service is great, the guy who greeted us was kind/polite and probably will be polite in the future too. You also get your food very fast. Ambience, ehh, typical Chinese restaurant, nothing special. You get a hot tea for free if you’re seated but that’s not a wow factor. So there goes my one liner review – you can get the same or even better typical Chinese dish at Panda for a lower price. Not really recommended. I almost feel like people just rated well because they received good service from the waiter/host/owner whoever that guy was. I do admit he was...
Read moreMy family and friends have been going here for years and years. My first time at Best Wok was when I was in my mother's belly 27 years ago (she was pregnant), and I've been hooked ever since! The gentlemen who now own the restaurant were just little boys then, helping their father out. Now they own the restaurant, are very friendly and attentive, and it always feels like family when we return. I often run into old friends there who also frequent this restaurant. Good lunch specials. LOVE their egg flour soup. I like going at dinner, with family style plates (also available at lunch if you ask). My go-to meal is the chicken lo mein, chicken fried rice, and hot & Spicy Hunan tofu (comes sizzling in a pot w/ veggies and actually not super spicy...sooo good). My uncle loves the broccoli & beef, my dad loves the kung pao chicken & crab rangoon (butterflies), my mom loves the almond chicken. My husband loves everything. Every time my family visits from Cali, this is where we go! Faithful customers we will be due to unwavering good customer service and delicious food. In fact, we are taking a speaker visiting from out of town there tonight! I...
Read moreAfter a long day, I decided to order some comfort food from Best Wok through DoorDash. Craving something sweet and tangy, I opted for the orange chicken and sweet and sour chicken. The ordering process was smooth, and the food arrived promptly, which was impressive.
However, when I unpacked the meal, I noticed that the portions were quite small considering the price - $20 per item seemed steep for the amount provided. Both dishes came with just one small container of white rice, which was not quite sufficient for two complete meals.
Taste-wise, the dishes were good. The orange chicken had a perfect balance of sweetness and zest, while the sweet and sour chicken boasted a tangy sauce that coated the tender pieces of chicken nicely. When compared to my usual go-to spot, it fell a bit short.
Despite the portion size, I must say, this was definitely the best Chinese food I've ordered through a delivery system so far. The flavors were spot on, and the convenience of having it delivered to my doorstep was a plus. I would recommend Best Wok to anyone looking for quality Chinese cuisine delivered...
