Only one who has the best noodle, can be king
Social Distancing review
$7.95 lunch specials! Now, that's a bargain! Craving Thai food & in search of a place other than the usual haunts, I found Thai Noodle King and knew that would be perfect for lunch.
The menu consists of the popular Thai dishes customers come to expect at any Thai restaurant. When in doubt, it's always a good litmus test to check the quality of Thai eatery by ordering the national dish - pad Thai, plus Mongolian beef for the heck of it.
Pad Thai pork lunch special (w/ fried wonton & egg roll)- Initially perturbed by the portions, I found the plastic containers had deep compartments, so there was actually more food than meets the eye. Thai Noodle King's pad Thai had a nice balance of brightness to sweetness. Nothing negative I can say to that.
Mongolian beef lunch special (w fried wonton & egg roll)- This, too, looked diminutive, but proved to be a substantial lunch. I greatly enjoyed the baby corn on the cob & bamboo shoots, providing both crunch & sweetness. Not to mention the tender mushrooms interspersed throughout.
Service was great. I was the first & only customer at the time. The people working there were friendly & humored me with my attempts at speaking Thai & my bragging of the various tropical fruit I grow at home. Parking is via a small private lot, both in the front & back, of a strip mall. Thai Noodle King is located next to a donut shop & liquor store on the Eucalyptus Ave. side. Look for the sign that says "Thai Food" to locate the place.
Thai Noodle King hit the spot! I'm anxiously awaiting ordering their Thai boat noodle soup, as I've become a huge fan of that dish & I've read people's recommendations for Thai Noodle King's version. Plus, with $7.95 lunch specials, how can I not think of coming here for some cheap, yet delicious, grub? Of...
Read moreLet me preface this by saying I’ve ordered from Thai Noodle King over two dozen times. Lately, the food has been disappointing. First time I bit my tongue. Today, I ordered chicken Pad See Ew and two other entrees. I order Pad See Ew as traditionally, a Thailand specialty, as most people expect to eat noodles. To my very unfortunate dismay, it arrived (I ordered from an online food delivery service. I applied all rationale and even wanted to blame the delivery driver but by the placement of the vegetables, the blame is strictly on the restaurant). It straight looked like porridge that were scraps from the sides of the pot so they can make a few bucks instead of serving quality food to their customers. If you were a stray dog roaming through the alleys hungry for food, I’m sure it’ll be edible. I called to address the issue and the lady on the phone attempted to patch things up by making another order so I can pick it up. Hmm. Let’s think about this. I ordered through an online food delivery service to make it a one way trip. Besides, we were all ready for dinner with the table set. No offer for compensation until I asked if she could refund me the money for just portion of the order. She stated she could not and for me to try the delivery service to refund a portion of the order. Needless to say, this will be my last order from this place. Make your own decisions but this is...
Read moreI've supported this local business for YEARS and have never had any issues with the food or service. Until today. I normally use DoorDash/UberEats but decided to utilize their website which clearly offers delivery. After placing the order, it charges me the full amount and then sends an email saying the order was rejected because they don't have any drivers. Not cool to advertise a service that can't be provided and charge customers for a delivery order they cannot fulfill. So I call to place the same order with Gunn K. and inquire about my refund; they said it will be 25 minutes for pick-up and they’ll call back about my refund. I get a text confirmation of the order and they leave me a message a few minutes later saying I’ll get a refund in 3-5 days. I arrive half an hour later and they haven’t even started preparing the food because they “wanted to be sure I wanted it.” After I already placed the order for pick up over the phone? Make it make sense. Gunn K. was zero help.
I will have to find a new local Thai restaurant that actually cares about proving good...
