Ramen+Bowl is a cute little “neighborhood”ramen shop that serves a completely adequate menu and maintains a consistent level of quality that keeps me coming back once or twice a month.
Because 5 stars ideally equals perfect and not just good, I think that R+B should be in the 4 star range, simply because the ramen could have deeper flavors and more nuance. Truly perfect ramen is a spiritual experience, R+B is a nice, filling, and savory experience to treat yourself to after a long day’s work, but I would like to support them and keep them around longer than I’ve seen other BHam spots come and go, so they get 5 stars from me.
The service is always friendly and I always seem to get the same employee handing me my order (I only order for pick-up) and they’re always friendly and professional.
The to-go ramen comes in a two-part container with the broth below and the noodles and accoutrements held above the broth in a little tray for you to add when ready. The bowl comes with a note to please heat the broth further when actually preparing to eat because it has likely gotten colder in transit, so while I’ve seen other reviews saying the broth is not hot enough (likely dining in), it’s up to you to set your own temperature when getting pick-up or delivery.
All in all it’s a welcome addition to the downtown area and they have a late night menu and drink discounts after certain hours but I’ve never checked that out. I think this is aimed more at students out late and as an industry worker, I think it’s a good way to capitalize on Bellingham’s lackluster late night dining and hangout options that aren’t bars or clubs.
Would give it a solid 4.2 stars, leaving that room to grow for a truly elevated ramen experience, otherwise...
Read moreI recently dined at "Ramen and Bowl," a restaurant located in Downtown Bellingham, and here's my take:
They have a unique ordering system where you order your food at the counter and receive an order number card before they deliver your meal. Our group of eight opted for four different flavors of ramen and three different bowls.
Unfortunately, the ramens, especially the broth, lacked depth of flavor. Even the spicy options were disappointing, as they seemed to rely solely on an extra kick of red pepper flakes rather than developing a richer taste profile.
On the bright side, the spicy pork bowl and Donkatsu Bowl were standout dishes. The spicy pork bowl boasted an authentic Korean flavor despite being in a Japanese restaurant. Additionally, the pork Donkatsu was well-executed, with perfectly cooked pork of the right thickness.
Despite the restaurant's name emphasizing both ramen and bowls, I would recommend sticking to the bowl menu exclusively.
Service at "Ramen and Bowl" was exemplary, with friendly and attentive staff members.
The location is in Downtown Bellingham, which feels safe, and the ambiance is casual, attracting many young students.
While the food portions are generous, the prices are reasonable. However, it's worth noting that the ramens may not justify their cost compared to the flavorful bowls.
The restroom was clean, although it lacked a diaper changing station.
Parking is ample with plenty of public street parking available, albeit requiring payment.
In summary, "Ramen and Bowl" offers a mixed experience. While their ramens may leave something to be desired, the flavorful bowls and excellent service make it a worthwhile dining option, especially for those craving a satisfying meal in a...
Read moreI really really hope the owner of this restaurant will be looking at these review considering how new this place is. Most people are going to directly compare this restaurant to the prior it took over, another Ramen Restaurant called Muto.
While Muto was definitely not the best or most authentic ramen place in town (shout out to Hokkai, my beloved), Ramen and Bowl so far is a BIG step down 💔
If you're going to put Ramen in your name, it should be one of your best dishes, and their ramen just does not deliver. The broths are so mild and under seasoned that eating a bowl of ramen just tastes like plain noodles until you drink the broth at the end. The tonkotsu broth is extremely milky, but not in a luxurious way, it is just so so mild like a bowl of cream.
That being said, the ramen toppings are great even though they forgot some of mine. The chashu was well cooked and flavorful, the marinated bamboo is delicious, and the soy egg is delightful... If only they gave you both halves.
Ramen and Bowls ramens are severely lacking, so until they make some adjustments, find something else...
