I would give this restaurant 4 stars maybe 5 stars for its food. The waitress was charming, kind, clean. One major thing that wasn't good was, that, she picked up other peoples dirty plates, then touched our glasses, to refill them with water. She seemed busy, and didn't come back to check our water until the end of the meal. Not sure, but she was serving the lounge and the front dining room. The "Womens" Restroom was filthy. One toilet was out of order and the second toilet was soiled, all over the outside of the bowl, and the paper in the trash can was overflowing. I almost lost my meal, in there. I told the waitress, and she went to check it out. Looked like the bathroom, wasn't cleaned for s while. The luncheon special was a great deal, for the price. I has the Chicken Sovalaki, and, I would probably take family or friends back to eat there. Hopefully, they will call a plumber to fix the broken toilet, and hire someone to clean the other toilet, the floor, and someone will make sure the toilet is not overflowing, and empty the garbage. I hope the owner, or, manager, will read this, because, he and his family, has worked hard, on this place, and this restaurant is a beautiful place to take my family, and friends. Thank you, for so many years, of great service, from your family, and, to ours. We sincerely, appreciate you, your great food, and, the...
Read moreI’ve been eating at Cafe Akroteri my entire life, and the food has always delivered. I even lived in Greece during college, and when I came home, I was amazed that the flavors here still held up. It’s one of the few places where the Greek food genuinely reminds me of being back in Athens. From the gyros to the spanakopita, it’s all spot-on. If you’re craving authentic Greek food, this is the place.
The service is consistently friendly—no complaints there. The staff is kind, attentive, and makes the experience enjoyable.
That said, the downside seems to fall on management. The restaurant is often not clean. Every time I visit, there are flies buzzing around and tables that feel like they’ve been wiped down in a hurry, if at all. It makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like behind the scenes, and that’s not something you want to be thinking about while eating.
Also, don’t trust the posted hours. Their website and Google listing will say they’re open—but it’s a gamble. They close randomly without warning, and more than once I’ve driven over only to find the...
Read moreCafe Akroteri was directly across from our hotel and beckoned to us, on a typical PNW gray Friday afternoon in January. Pandemic restrictions forced restaurants into limited menus, and breakfast cafes seemed to be weathering the Covid-19 storm the best, at least in downtown Bellingham. That's not what we wanted, and crossing the street for a couple of lamb gyros was an easy choice.
We placed our take out order in a forlorn empty restaurant, unfortunately the norm these days. The guy was very pleasant and the ten minute wait spent walking around the block, window shopping, imagining life in Bellingham post virus. The gyros were good, the lamb a little chewy and the sauce a bit bland for our palate, but still tasty. One day I'd like to try their other Greek specialties. I...
