My boyfriend and I had one of our first dates at the Horseshoe, so we have fond memories of grabbing diner food at 2 a.m., but after this visit it seems like all we'll have going forward is fond memories. The service and food had been steadily declining throughout our previous visits, but today we decided to give it one last try. When we arrived around 1 p.m. there were about three other tables with maybe seven people. It took a minute or two for the waitress to come seat us. No big deal. Not even a problem, really. I ordered coffee and a slice of apple pie. She asked if I would like the pie heated and I said please. My boyfriend ordered the savory chicken and waffles. She brought my coffee after a couple of minutes. Could have been a little quicker, but so far I'm not complaining. I've never worked in a restaurant, so I try to give people a lot of leeway because I understand it can be stressful. When I finally got the pie I took one bite and knew I wasn't going to eat it. I swear to God I'm not being dramatic when I say it had the distinct taste of wet dog. Also, this was a slice of pie which had definitely not been heated up. Okay, that's one little complaint. They finally got out the chicken and waffles for my guy, and it's not the savory order, it's the sweet one. Okay, he doesn't like to complain either. Meanwhile, I'm banking on this free refill of coffee to tide me over in lieu of the food that I ordered, but I never got a refill. When my bf dug into the chicken and waffles, our whole experience fell apart, much like batter on the chicken, to reveal the sad, dried strip of meat within. Inside of this mass of fried chicken was a small, chewy chicken tender, so slender that it would have been funny if we didn't have to pay for it. This is it. We are never coming back to the Horseshoe cafe again. I'm not one to ever leave reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I felt compelled to let someone know. What are you doing to this restaurant? Do you want people to come here?

Read moreWe really wanted to like this place. My mom was the one who wanted us to go and try it as it's historic and interesting. We checked out the menu ahead of time, breakfast all day! But unfortunately we were sorely disappointed in the experience. We came in Sunday (yesterday) a little after 12pm. We seated ourselves quickly and got menus within a few minutes... That's all we got quickly though.
We ordered iced tea, water and a cup of coffee. It took 15 minutes to get our drinks but the waitress (a blonde young gal with wavy hair) apologized so we moved on from that. Keep in mind that the place wasn't packed, there were roughly ten tables averaging 2-4 people at them the whole time we were there and two servers. Sooo only 5 tables per person. I've been a server and line cook before so I know that's easy.
We ordered and I probably got the most challenging order for the kitchen out of the three of us. Eggs Benedict! My dad got an omelette and my partner got a regular breakfast plate. Our server then dodged us and wouldn't make eye contact or even check on us for the next 45 minutes. YES. IT TOOK 45 MINUTES. When we finally got our food our server just dumped the plates off and dashed. I didn't have a fork... I flagged down the other server who was clearly embarrassed that I was eating with my coffee spoon and quickly got me a fork. To top it off, our food was almost cold. It had been clearly sitting on the line at LEAST ten to fifteen minutes. Portions were small for the price, a thin layer of hash browns given. Other than that the food was decent. My partner wasn't impressed by their black bean patty though.
Overall I wasn't a fan of the experience. I observed the table next to us, they came in about 20 minutes after we did. They got drinks within ten minutes and their food arrived around the 30 minute mark. Maybe it was the waitress but dang, I think I'd...
Read moreI’ve been coming here for a long time. It was my first time sitting at the long table with a bunch of chairs, I came there with 3 friends. We got served pretty fast. Food was good but when we tried to ask for silverware for my friends salad, our server, Cora had some attitude rolling her eyes. One of my other friends asked her if she could place another order and then she continued to walk past us for 10 minutes so we asked again and she says it’s gonna take 45 minutes in a rude tone voice. The food did not take 45 minutes. It took 15 minutes and then 15 minutes of it sitting there she came and asked if we wanted our checks I said is that their food and then she grabbed their food and set it down next to them did not give him any syrup for his chicken and waffles Then she proceeded to let us know that there is an automated tip going to be taken out because we have a group of more than six we had a group of four than two people showed up out of nowhere who we just met. I was telling her that’s bull crap because we were definitely a group of two and two. so she grouped us all as one so she could tip her herself when she deserved no tip at all for her terrible customer service. She practically robbed us for a tip because she knew she didn’t deserve one. When she gave us the checks, she didn’t leave us a pen to sign or anything. After we say something, she says oh yeah, with a smirk on her face. I definitely will not be coming back because of her. Somebody needs to tell that girl she don’t like her job she shouldn’t be doing it!! Just in case her name isn’t Cora Like the receipt says she’s the shorter girl with blondeish dark brown hair with glasses. Also, I’m not sure if there’s a sewer problem going on there but the corner with the pool table smells like...
