We used to go to your restaurant in Bellingham location all the time because we loved your friendly staff and homie atmosphere. However, September 6th evening, the visit was the worst ever in our entire dine-in life experience! We walked in around 8:50pm, the restaurant wasn't busy, only about 4 or 5 tables. There were few staff members standing in the corner between the kitchen and dining area. No one seemed care, we were patiently waiting and thinking they were busy with something, finally the female server saw us by saying will help us soon without seating us first, left us standing at the entrance, then turn her back and started to take order for another customer. We then stood there waiting. While we were waiting, we could smell a strong odor like pee smell in the L-shape area which from the cashier desk to the washroom area. After waited another while, the male server came up and finally seated us to a table, we mentioned the smell issue to him and he said nothing, then left without offering the menu or any cutlery or water. We sat at the empty table and waited. We were hungry and eager to order the food, but no one came to us. The female server past our table multiple times, but we were ignored. 10 minutes past, she glanced at us a couple of times, rather just standing there and doing nothing, still not offering even a menu for us to start. After we waited for more than 15 minutes, still no one came to us...we were really upset and we decided to leave. Even when we were leaving, no one cared as if we were invisible...just before we left, we had to go up to the female server and expressed our frustration. She pretended to be surprised by saying "did anyone seat you?" This really upsetting us even more and felt this is such insult...she was the first one saw us waiting at the entrance and supposed to sever us and then just forgot about us. We felt unwelcoming to your dinner and never been treated like this. Her ridiculous excuses are...
Read moreWe've eaten/ordered from here several times, and Monday night (11/28) was the biggest disappointment. We are probably going take a break from Shari's for a while.
First, my husband found something weird in his broccoli. As I cleaned it off, we realized it was some kind of caterpillar-looking thing. We threw our broccoli out.
My broccoli had a lot of brown, and I got a few scraps included. I don't know who thought this was acceptable to give to a customer. I've worked in food, and I would toss this and give customers something actually fresh and appetizing looking.
My husband has been a cook for 2 decades. He asked for his steak to be medium, yet his was almost mooing.
I asked for loaded mashed potatoes, which involves an upcharge. I got basic mashed potatoes and gravy.
My slow roasted turkey was in different shapes and sizes rather than actually sliced or otherwise carved with care. My dinner looked sad. It tasted okay, but it was dry.
We also ordered pies recently, and the apple pies (Deep Dish, and No Sugar Added) had a grainy texture. They gave my husband diarrhea, my mom a stomach ache, and me gas. We tossed them. Strawberry rhubarb was 90% rhubarb. The only good pie this time around was the marionberry cheese pie.
Sad. We liked this place better than Denny's, but this got close to our last Denny's experience. I know Shari's can do better than this, as they...
Read moreMy husband and I went to Shari's for dinner a few weeks back in Bellingham, Washington. We were greeted with a friendly smile and a big variety of pies in their display case at the reception area. We were promptly seated at a booth without any delay. The menu was big, colorful with many pictures and easy to read. We were so glad they had all day breakfast as we didn't feel like anything in particular so we decided on breakfast for dinner. The Farmer's Breakfast was a great choice. It came with eggs, hashbrowns, bacon or sausage, pancakes or french toast. I chose their bacon stuffed hashbrowns and it was absolutely delicious. I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh and tasty everything tasted, especially the hashbrowns as it was my first time trying it. We also ordered a full pecan pie to take home. The pie was big, fresh and delicious with big chunks of pecans. The service was excellent and the waitress refilled our coffee several times without us having to ask. Prices have gone up since the pandemic but the quality remains the same. Prices are still reasonable for a good meal, especially if you are on a tight budget. The dining area is a bit old but clean except the women's washroom was dirty, which is a pet peeve of mine. Overall we enjoyed visiting Shari's and will go back for their stuffed hashbrowns, it was my favorite item...
