When my family visited, they asked if there was any good filipino food up here in Bellingham. Luckily enough there was! I was recommended this place by my roommate who was recommended by a regular at his work named Rebecca.
Iâve lived in Bellingham for around four years now, and Iâm always craving filipino food because I miss my grandmaâs cooking. Very grateful for this place to help ache the nostalgia! :)
My favorite was the lechon kawali. The pork was so soft and crispy on the outside, it cooked perfectly. A lot of filipino restaurants I have gone to in Washington all had pretty hard lechon, which I didnât like. But their lechon kawali is something to order here! Highly recommend.
I also really appreciate the owner providing us another plate of pancit on the house, that was very very generous! My step mom was just hungry for more pancit (it was really good) and it probably irritated her that we were all eating the plates of food we ordered family style, so I apologize if we came off needy or rude when we asked about the portion size of the pancit. It honestly seemed perfect for just one person, but we shared it as a family of six, so each portion seemed small for us haha!
I also appreciate our server, she was super sweet and very accommodating! She gladly kept refilling our Hawaiian iced tea, which I also highly recommend from this place!
Highly recommend the place if youâre in need for some good filipino food. Even my dad said he thought this place was better than the ones down south of Seattle where heâs from! The restaurant was very comfortable and made me feel at home, and the music playing was so good, my dad was jamming out to every song during our visit.
Comfortable atmosphere, amazing food, and very friendly staff! This place is a gem right here in Bellingham....
Read moreAlright. I have lived in the Philippines for a long time and married a great Filipina and I must say that this restaurant is a misrepresentation of the Philippine Delicacy. Let me enumerate why, as a filipino by heart, will not recommend this place. (Sorry to the owners but I am just being honest)
The place looks like a cabaret bar that when you enter, whats missing are dancing girls in a stage. The place is very shady and very rustic that it feels unappetizing.
The food is not as close as the lowest standards I have set. The food is so bland and very small portioned for a price of a fortune. I would rather go down to Everett or Kent where there are "Real Filipino" food and recipe that will make me pay more than what youll get here. The lumpia is the saddest ive tasted; the pancit is as bland as water; and the Bulalo is nothing and nothing at all. Oh dont let me start with the Halo Halo. Geez, a small tea cup for what price? Very cleaver but im not buying that. Hint: Just go down to Everett if you really want to taste what a real Filipino Dessert is.
The owner doesnt seem to understand that bearing a "Filipino" at the Restaurants name that means you are at some point delivering such expectations. Mixing with "American" is not an excuse for the service to be a little bit different. I have attempted multiple times to talk to the owner mostly who I see was the guy and everytime I talk to him in Tagalog, he doesnt even talk back to me which is so underwhelming. He looks more filipino that I am but I speak more fluent than him. At least have some representation, I feel unwelcomed at all.
There is more to discuss but I guess you should have just kept your food truck cause I think you are not gonna...
Read moreThatâs what I like is a hidden gem in Bellingham serving Filipino staples that taste great. The interior is cozy, and has been decorated to really give a tropical island vibe. I would recommend the Shanghai lumpia and Lechon Kawali.
Food I ordered the Lechon Kawali combo with pancit and 1 Shanghai lumpia and 1 beef lumpia. First, the Shanghai lumpia is hands down best lumpia to get here and so I would highly recommend that. The crispy pork belly (Lechon Kawali) was overall pretty good. The only thing I did not like was that the outside was maybe a little too crispy and dry. However the dipping sauces and the succulent pork belly fat of it balanced it out. The pancit was just okay for me but my friend really enjoyed it. The Mac salad was not what I was expecting (like Hawaiian style Mac salad) and did not like it here.
Atmosphere The interior is decorated with an island and tropical feel and gives very casual and laid back vibes. It was nice and has nice places to take pictures too. There is an outdoor area that would be perfect for when the weather gets warmer. Noise level was average for a Friday dinner.
Pricing Prices are reasonable and average compared to other Asian foods. I think the prices are great for the quality of the Filipino food out in an area like Bellingham.
Service The staff was nice and helpful in answering questions we had about the menu. Food came out fast.
Other Plenty of parking in the lot right by...
