The Orion/ Odd Fellows Temple Room — Restaurant in Bellingham

You can definitely Italy look forward to a vintage space-themed atmosphere, which in retrospect should be a given with a name like The Orion.

Layout: The building is typical of Bellingham downtown, (older) but that just adds to the vintage appeal.

This cozy bar encompasses the entire first floor of the building and has three main rooms: the bar, the larger pool room, and the smaller, quieter, mural room.

The pool room has a pool table (go figure) and several tables/booths able to accommodate groups from 2 to probably 8 comfortably with bench seating. There is a juke box and a single pool table to keep you busy.

The smaller room has two booths, two tables, and a couple bar seats, and is definitely cozy, but this is by far my favorite room. Every wall is covered in glow-in-the-dark murals of various constellations, enhanced by black-lights.

Drinks: Their drinks were pretty decent, leaning toward beer and old fashioned style cocktails. Their bartender was super nice and friendly and, although maybe a tad inexperienced, still made tasty drinks.

Bottom line: Definitely worth a repeat visit and will recommend to friends interested in a cool, semi-upscale date-night...

I went here on Monday night for my birthday and since I just moved to the area from out of state, I still have my Texas ID. When my friends and I walked in we showed the bartender our IDs and she took them back with her and just googled on her phone what a Texas ID looks like. She told us she wouldn't serve us because it "didn't look right". The issue isn't that we weren't served, but that I feel like a bartender should know what a real legitimate ID is and how to accurately check one (this is the only place in Washington that has said my ID was fake). It was especially confusing that after denying us, the same bartender recommended other bars that we didn't have to worry about being carded at. If I could leave a 0 star I would. My friend showed his valid ID and refused service. We asked if we could scan it or have anyone else come to check it because we heard it was a good vibe in there. She immediately got super defensive and talked crap with other customers and kicked out friend out. When we asked for her name she kicked everyone else out and started then talking crap with other customers saying we were rude when we were very polite in asking if there’s any other way or form before refusing service. TERRIBLE service from a shorter brunette worker there. We came from out of town and would have loved to experience it but will never be returning due to how rude the employee got.
