At first glance, Schweinhaus Biergarten might conjure the blurry memory of you and your mates in Germany or Leavenworth belting shanties as you eye cute Kellnerin from behind the protection of leather lederhosen. This memory no doubt includes the taste of fresh German sausage on your breath, finely curated mustards, mountains of succulent sauerkraut, and the sweet embrace of finely crafted biers.
This wave of inspiration will likely propel you, as it did me, into the clutches of this disappointing venue.
The bratwurst are mediocre, lain upon a bed of culinarily disappointing sauerkraut that is hardly ample enough to offer an ant reprieve from a soft PNW drizzle. Everyone knows that this heavenly side dish is the supporting star when meandering along Bratwurst Boulevard, and there should be enough on your plate to soften the landing of a freshly birthed baby giraffe, especially when you aren’t providing a bun!
The beers are fine, nothing to carrier pigeon mother in the homeland about. This brings us to the mustards. There are three provided to you. Two of which are likely Kroger brand, and the last is the most generic honey mustard that he who invented honey mustard would be astonished how closely they kept the recipe after all these years.
Where’s the mustard passion? The intrigue? The excitement of trying out a mustard that contains grapefruit, coriander, and just a hint of becherovka because the chef was feeling spicy?
No, dear reader, this place can be driven right past as the memories it conjures are likely to be it’s...
Read moreSchweinhaus Biergarten is the ultimate spot in Bellingham for catching a Seahawks game, hanging out with friends, or just enjoying a sunny afternoon. This place has been my go-to for sports viewing because of its vibrant atmosphere and great crowd.
The selection of beers at Schweinhaus is impressive, featuring a variety of local and imported brews that can satisfy any beer enthusiast. Whether you’re into IPAs, lagers, or something a bit more obscure, they’ve got a brew that’s sure to hit the spot.
Let’s not forget about the food—especially the brats. They are nothing short of delicious, perfectly cooked, and seasoned to complement your beer of choice. It’s the kind of food that makes you want to come back not just for the games but for the meals too.
The outdoor setting of Schweinhaus adds to its charm, creating a laid-back, beer garden vibe that’s hard to find elsewhere in the city. It’s a great place to spend an afternoon or evening, whether you’re there for the game or just to relax and enjoy some good food and great beer.
Overall, if you're looking for a lively place to watch the game or just kick back with some friends, Schweinhaus Biergarten is definitely worth a visit. High marks for both the beverages...
Read moreIn case you have not heard.. schweinhaus bier garden was not closed for a month for “maintenance”. They were closed because the owner was caught stealing money from employees for god knows how long. He was found to have stolen around 10-20% of EACH persons tips of each persons paycheck. When the manager found out this information he was fired. After the employees were informed they were asked to sign a legal agreement that they 1. Could be fired at anytime 2. Cannot talk about what happened or they could be sued and 3. Were all only going to be paid 2k back (even though some were owed upward of 10k).
