First and last time I will ever spend my money here. I called in to ask if they serve pita bread with their salads. I was told it could be added. So, I ordered the greek salad with chicken and asked for the pita bread. Went in to pick up my order, looked in the to go bag and saw no pita bread. I pointed to the slip and asked for the pita that I ordered, from there the customer service was absolutely putrid. She looked at me as if I had 7 heads and said “we don’t have pita”. So I stated, “I called and asked for it specifically and it’s printed on my slip, if you don’t have pita is there something else I could have? A tortilla would be fine”. She proceeded to tell me they only had artisan bread, which is false because they serve wraps. She turned around and spoke Spanish to one of the chefs who then looked at me through the serving window and went to get the bread. She turned back around and proceeded to tell me she would have to charge me for the bread. At this point, I was fed up. I explained again that I called and ordered pita specifically, it’s fine if you don’t have that but could I get something else without being charged. That just is not good customer service at all. She looked annoyed, turned back, spoke Spanish again, looked at me again and stated she would need to charge me for the bread. No apology, no customer service skills, nothing. I told her to keep the damn bread and walked out. As for the salad: I would give 2/5 stars. Not enough feta, had maybe 4 croutons, tons of olives (which personally I like), and the dressing was not of good quality. The chicken was cold as well, almost like they made it earlier in the day and keep it in a food line prep bucket. Long story short: I won’t be back. I would much rather go to...
Read moreI never write reviews, but my experience was so bizarre and lackluster that I felt like I had to warn people. My husband and I went for dinner at 7pm on a Friday night during what I thought was prime time dinner hours- there was literally no one there which should have been our warning sign. Not only was the food not good, but the girls at the front were not friendly, accommodating, or interested in helping out any customers. They were on their phones and didn’t know how to answer any questions about the food or drinks. We had to order at the front then sit and wait for our food, which is fine. The food came out pretty quickly. I got eggplant parm with their homemade fusilli. My dish and sauce was watery from the poorly drained pasta with a block of “eggplant parm” that was bland and lukewarm. The “fusilli” was odd 4-5 inch pieces of pasta that looked nothing like fusilli and was difficult to eat without cutting it due to the size. My husband got spinach ravioli with the sage sauce and a meatball on the side. The sauce was pretty good and so was the ravioli. However, the plate it was put on was way too small and the sauce was flowing over the side of the plate. They also put the meat ball with red sauce right on top of the white sauce of the ravioli, which I thought was weird. When I went to ask for a side plate for the meatball, the girls at the counter were rude as I tried to explain why I needed an extra plate. For $60 for two plates of pasta, a glass of wine, and a beer, I would have expected better quality and definitely better service than a...
Read moreWe've been frequenting Comella's since it had only one location in West Newton. I miss those days... it seems with every new location the quality is diluted more and more.
The Belmont location was decent... not on par with those early days... but still decent. Until recently anyway. Quality started getting inconsistent... which can happen in a place that probably has high employee turnover (HS kids, etc) which wasn't a huge deal, it was still edible. Unlike our most recent order (8/12)... which was kind of the last straw.
My go to favorite... the veal alfredo arrived a brownish/black color with a heavy bitterness I had to spit out as soon as it touched my tongue. Unfortunately the taste had seeped down into the pasta, staining it brown and leaving it just as inedible.
Ok... well at least I could share the kids meatballs. Oh wait... they forgot those. And they forgot the broccoli too. So basically all that was left was an order of pasta, a salad and soggy garlic bread for a family of four.
It's unfortunate as we genuinely enjoyed this place. It was a good run.... but I...
