The Big Catch & Crispy All in One Foodie — Restaurant in Belvidere Township

Todays review is on Da Catch off State St. Belvidere IL. This place having been the FIRST place I decided to try having just moved to the area, and being a secret shopper/critic. The one thing that made me cringe in this place aside of cashier and her poor etiquette providing customer service is the fact that the order is taken and paid for before finding out food is not available. How does a cook not know to let cashier know something like..."by the way don't take anymore orders for said item cuz we are out!". Instead you get, "Oh by the way we don't have an order of the pizza puffs" (for example), and just leaves order with say the drinks and desserts (which in reality food is why one stopped here to begin with). Should at least make sure actual food is available if not wait to see if anything else is good to then proceed placing and competing order to pay. Hence not wasting time leaving one to go elsewhere with half an order. Just saying. Time is precious and could have been used to go somewhere food and all else is available together. Most importantly the Hospitality should be welcoming, and friendly if you want business and growth followed by good words spread, and reviews. Obviously that is not the case here. First and last time I will come here or even recommend Da catch off State st. Belvidere, IIL. Despite the only good thing from what was available and edible and enjoyable was the Pizza puffs, french fries. Shrimp not at all, neither catfish nuggets taste blah.. Cheese cake has a stale like after taste. Taffy grapes good, but some are sour soggy like when they are going bad. German chocolate cake was ok. This is of course some of what I was able to taste. Well it's official tonight was my 1st and will be my last visit to a da catch! I ordered 2 double cheeseburger meals and man, we both were extremely disappointed I could Smell and taste fish in my sandwich needless to say I took one bite and was done also the quality of the Burger itself it lacked taste I mean water has a better taste than the Patty on that Burger. Honestly Having their food made me feel like McDonald's was a 5 star restaurant. I was going to call their store and say something directly to them but what's the point The quality of the food already ensured I won't be returning anyways.

This is an edit to my review because I'm not able to reply to your comment! But absolutely not the staff ensured me this would be unregettable and that I would enjoy this meal! Needless to say; the staff was wrong; I've been homeless and have had better tasting food out of the trash I will not be going back and the 6.5 million people that I have following me on my platforms will be KNOWING THIS! Treat every item as if it was going to you!!!! Good luck I hope da catch does better, but I highly doubt it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lastly if you see a 5 star review it's most likely from a person affiliated with the business or a person who doesn't know good food please do not be fooled don't waste your time or money I promise you your first bite will say it all=waste of time, money and completely destroys appetite I'd rather spend 30 dollars more for any item on the menu somewhere else then go here again!!!!!! Please pay attention to my words your better off spending 10 dollars at mcdonalds than 100 dollars at this...

The Big Catch and Crispy was truly a treat! When we discovered they had some of our favorite deep-fried southern dishes on their menu we had to try the following: Catfish, Okra, Hush Puppies and Chicken Gizzards (shhhh....this is an item that is not featured on the menu so if you want to try it you have ask if they are serving it that day). Not only did we try those items but we also tried some of our other favorite foods like, Jumbo Shrimp, Waffle Fries and their French Fries, which you can specify if you want them soft or crispy.

The majority of the food orders at Big Catch & Crispy are take-out orders but we decided we would dine-in. There are only two tables, but because we went during a non-busy time of day we were able to get one. When we received our food, because we ordered so much of it, they brought out each dish immediately after it was prepared, so it was hot and delicious!

The constructive critique I have is all of their drinks are in cans or bottles so they did not have cups to pour our drinks in or any ice (although the drinks are kept cold in cooler type refrigerator). I would have also liked to have had condiment bottles instead of "packets" for at least some of the condiments we ordered, like ketchup.

Overall the food, service and experience was great! The atmosphere was okay, but keep in mind, BC&C is primarily for take out orders. We will definitely be back to try their burgers, chicken and all the other items they offer...
