The good: They're open late. Taquitos are good. They're open late. The bad: A hole in the wall, but it doesn't feel clean. Staff is so-so; no friendliness. Did I mention it doesn't feel clean.
We were visiting from out of town and wanted to grab a quick bite. They're open late - that's good! So, we drove to get some Mexican food. A disclaimer - I love good, authentic Mexican food. I don't like greasy Mexican food or Americanized Mexican food. I live in Southern CA, where we have some of the best Mexican food.
We ordered a dozen taquitos (rolled tacos) to split. They were good - not great, but good. Their hot sauce isn't that hot. For Mexican food, I expect there to be a really good hot sauce. Not here.
The table we sat at wasn't clean - you could feel a film on it. When we saw someone leave a table, nobody came to clean it. Come on, that's not acceptable. And a couple guys were standing behind the counter doing nothing.
This doesn't compare to the many excellent Mexican food places in So Cal. The poor service doesn't help either. At least at the hole in the wall places in So Cal, the staff is somewhat friendly and when they're not busy, someone comes to clean the tables.

Read moreGive them your business!(with a twist) I'll lead the review with 5 stars because i love this establishment but there is a caveat. That is that I've only had positive(really positive) experiences with the evening staff/second shift. Sometimes there is crossover but the evenings are the safest bet. I go here daily after work. The evening staff is so friendly, helpful and talented. They give awesome portions and are always laughing/smiling/happy. From the window you can see them having fun and it's a good vibe. They're my regular spot and I love them! But... The morning staff though(and I say this from 20+ interactions) the food is really underwhelming. They also give really small portions. Like disappointingly small. I have to go buy more food somewhere else after just to get full. It makes me sad/feels like a huge waste of money. I even pay extra for more protein... EXTRA beef today and the burrito was actually smaller than a non-extra beef burrito from the night staff. The evening shift earned a customer for life. The morning shift needs to take notes. They're like two separate businesses in quality...
Read moreI'm not sure how this place has such high reviews!? I ordered via GrubHub and it was an easy process. Unfortunatley, the food is very poor. I ordered a Carne Asada Burrito and Taco, with chips and Guac. There is no seasoning or flavor on any of the food. Simple salt would have helped some. The Taco was a total mess with filling scattered and then a very large helping of tomatoes that they call Pico. Soggy Tomato was the flavor of that taco. The Burrito was super small, and the tortilla was hard and tough. The Carne Asada taste like old ground beef with no seasonings once again. The color of the meat is a sickly gray with no signs of searing in both dishes. I was hopeful that the Chips and guac would rescue, the meal, but no. I wasn't expecting melted cheese over my chips....it was okay, but flavorless. I would have prefered a squirt of lime and some salt. The guac was as if they took an 50/50 mix of avacado and water and put it in a blender. No salt, onion, cilantro, no taste! Just smooth green soup. Taco Bell may send you to the bathroom, but at least you might enjoy it going down....
