Your Belly's Deli is an old standby in Bennington, with reliable and good sandwiches. Sure, their service is slow, and they are consistently out of key ingredients, but I'm willing to look past that to support a small business. We've been coming here for the past four years, but we won't be coming back. I usually bring my family to sit in the restaurant, but occasionally we take our orders to go. Chips and a pickle come with every sandwich, but I noticed last time we ordered to go that the chips were missing. No big deal I thought, they run out of ingredients all the time. This time my toddler was a bit cranky, so we decided to take our orders to go again, and to enjoy our meal in the park across the street. No sense in disturbing the flow of service or the other guests with the antics of a two-year old. Well wouldn't you know it, they forgot the chips again! That's ok, I'll just walk back across the street and ask them to drop a handful in my takeout box. Welp, I was informed that it's their policy not to put chips in the takeout orders, lest they get soggy. No matter that they charge the same amount, and accept the same tip. No matter that I walked back to request them. No matter that I offered to sit at a table if it would mean I could get my chips. The staff dug in, and ascribed their refusal to a matter of policy. " Jeff will be here in 15 minutes if you want to talk to him". No need. Any restaurant that can't or won't expend 10¢ worth of chips to appease a customer probably doesn't value repeat business. While I don't understand that model, I respect their choice, and...
Read moreDeeelish! Our first visit was in the winter. We finally had the chance to come back after all that time - too long! First off the menu is impressive with such great combinations of sandwiches, wraps and salads.
This time around my husband stuck with the same sandwich he got last time - The Bennington Bulge - corned beef, pastrami, and salami with L&T and russian dressing, he got it in rye. I decided to get the Spring Chicken - marinated chicken on baby spinach with cherry tomatoes, red onion, dried cranberries, cucumbers and shredded VT cheese, pepper-parmesan dressing on the side (super yum). I also ordered a slice of sunflower toast on the side.
This place DOES NOT disappoint. From the moment you walk in, it's truly friendly and smart service. Quaint, cozy, and clean atmosphere - love the decor in the wall. Food comes out quick, fresh. I'd be here for lunch everyday if I lived here full time.
Needless to say we will be back to continue working our way...
Read moreWe have been eating here for years but our latest dine in experience will be the last visit from me. Very disappointing. Staff clearly puts phone orders ahead of anyone that actually wants to sit down and eat there. Our order was placed at 12:35pm. It literally took an hour and fifteen minutes to receive our food (and not even all of it!). We had four meals. Two came out first at 1:50. Then the third about 10 minutes later and the last at 2:10 when I myself had to say goodbye and leave my family to make it home for the bus. We had 2 cold sandwiches, 1 hot, and a salad. Please tell me how we're all supposed to eat together when our food comes out that far apart. And I can tell you that my sandwich (a turkey BLT) wasn't anything to rave about especially since it had two tiny pieces of bacon on it that, at first, I couldn't even find, much...
