After the Common show Friday March 15th, we decided to grab a bite at Chickie & Pete's. Unfortunately after that our #GirlsTrip went into a spiral. SOMEHOW a little over an hour after the server "MAGGIE" took possession of her Visa debit card, said card was used to make 2 online casino gambling transactions. The next day when the fraudulent transactions were discovered the 1st for $200, the 2nd for $100, she contacted her bank & they canceled her card. A major inconvenience especially when you use your card for automatic bill paying. I immediately contacted the Parx casino call center for information & I also placed a call to Chickie & Pete's. The casino told us to come in & file a report with security. I received a call back almost immediately from C&P's Asst. Gen Manager "Sue" & was told she'd look into it. When we arrived back to the casino, security refered her to the Bensalem, Pa PD & she made a criminal report with them. AGM Sue, a very dismissive & unapologetic woman, said she reviewed the camera footage and found no wrongdoing on her employee's part...case closed!! When I asked her if the card had ever left Maggie's hands, she snapped "I will NOT be interrogated by YOU"!! but did eventually confirm that NO ONE other than Maggie had had possession of the card. She then asked if my friend was sure she didn't make the transactions herself or give her card to someone or perhaps lose it? The problem with these half hearted attempts at dismissing us is #1....her card went immediately back into her wallet after Maggie returned it to her so no it was not lost, stolen or given to anyone. And #2... unlike myself, my friend is not a gambler & even if she were, why in the world would she be in an actual casino (which is where we remained after eating) when the theft was committed & use an online casino/gambling app? So NO, none of those scenarios makes much sense but I guess she had to come up with ANYTHING that might dispel responsibility away from herself, Maggie & C&Ps. OR perhaps Sue is just purposely naïve of how easy it is to obtain the CC#, CVV code & EXP date from a patrons card using perhaps a cell phone's camera to capture such info for later use. The fact that someone is careful enough to not get caught on camera committing the act, is just a testament to how good they've become at doing it.
So if you decide to patronize this establishment, THINK TWICE before using your credit card and especially think twice before using your...
Read moreWow. This Chickie's & Pete's is in a Casino! We were in from out of town, so when we asked the Uber driver to take us to Chickie's & he pulled up to a casino, we thought he'd taken us to the wrong place. But he explained that the restaurant was INSIDE the casino. Oohhh.
Inside, the first thing we noticed was EVERYONE WAS SMOKING! 🤢🤢🤢. I'd forgotten what it was like to be in a closed space where lots of ppl are smoking. It sticks to your clothes, your hair. Yucky. But we moved on.
Next thing we noticed was what appeared to be Chihuly glass fixtures (image) decorating the casino ceilings. Chihuly glass is very beautiful, & very expensive; it was gorgeous. But overall it looked like the designer had perhaps gotten a lot of different things from a lot of different places & put them all inside the casino. They were lovely items, but somewhat disjointed, perhaps.
Inside the restaurant it's a totally different atmosphere. Very dark, sleek, w 2 story walls covered in tv screens displaying lots of assorted sporting events. The server was quick, she asked if we wanted to try their signature Crabby Fries; this place is known for it's seafood, that's why we went there. And "everyone loves them" she said, so sure, we'll try them. She quickly brought us a basket of cheese covered fries. They were very nicely cooked, super crispy & well seasoned. But where was the crab? "Oh there's no actual crab on them, it's crab seasoning". OhKay. Good fries, but they might want to mention that when offering a $10 basket of fries.
We went to Chickie's for their famous lobster roll, ppl raved about it. Think it was about $18.99. My guest had the crab cakes, about the same price. Both were delicious, perfectly prepared with very fresh seafood. The portions were fairly generous. These were really good dishes.
Delicate foods like crab & lobster don't mix well with smoke, & there was no barrier to keep smoke from the casino out of restaurant, which is unfortunate, because the food is really good. I heard there is another Chickie's location w no casino, which we will try next time we are in Philadelphia.
The seafood is really good & that's hard to get right. If you can do seafood well, the rest is easy. So I'd imagine the rest of the food is good, too. The prices are fairly reasonable, too. I'd definitely recommend Chickie & Pete's, with the footnote *choose your location according to your tolerance for smokers. And don't expect crab in the...
Read moreWe had the most unfortunate, unpleasant, unprofessional experience that we could EVER remember at this establishment all done by one woman who waited on us this past mother's day may 14th 2023 for crying out loud!! The waitress 's name was Angela. And she displayed the most cutthroat belligerent and quite frankly aggressive behavior toward me, my wife, sisters.and my 80 year old mother to name a few. She came to our table just fine but in a blink of an eye she totally snapped and became this evil vengeful horrific person. Almost like a mentally insane woman. My wife asked for fries and she gave a very nasty remark stating " I don't keep them on me I have to ring them up"! She then came back to our table very late to check on us several times almost deliberately. I said mam this beer we didn't order, she then snatched it out of my hand. My sister said that was rude Angela then came to our table in an aggressive fighting position and said " you want to snatche my glasses off my face"? We were stunned. At that point I was in fear for my sisters and mothers safety so we talked to management who helped us . Needless to say we left the establishment. This woman Angela displayed in my opinion an acute sign of mental instability, and in this world of mental health outreach I believe she needs help and to NOT be serving customers at this point. Please be aware of Angela at this restaurant. I fear that if she is still allowed to service people like she did us. It may end up with innocent people getting hurt very badly. As much as we spent over the months and years we are very apprehensive to go there ever agin because...
