It wasnt very crowded when my son and I arrived. The server arrived and took our drink order. She brought the drinks out very quickly. A Sprite for my son, and a peach tea for myself. The server took our order a grill cheese for kids and I ordered the new smoked prime rib 20 ounces, to be cooked medium rare. Nice right. Who can resist prime rib, then your gonna smoke it!!! Oh yeah, i took my chips and went all in. I ordered loaded smashed potatoes, and steamed vegetables. Yes I'm trying to lose weight so the veggies would help right....right.
While waiting for our food to arrive I snacked on the peanuts and the world famous rolls. The server walked by a couple times with my drink almost gone. I finally had to ask her for more tea. In her defense it appeared there were only two servers in the entire restuarant. As others arrived she was as busy as a one legged man in a butt kicking contest. Well, my son's grilled cheese arrived and it looked delicious. It was cooked well and had a lot if cheese, the more cheese the more better right. My nice hunk of prime rib arrived and looking at it i thought thats medium rare. It was more medium, but I'm hungry so I took some bites around the edges cause let's face fact that ribeye cap is my favorite. I noticed the fat inside the steak was white, like really white. I took a bite and it was cold, I mean as cold as a gold diggers heart. So I felt inside and dang near got frost bite. So stopped the server and explained what was wrong. She retrieved a plate and took the steak to the kitchen.
Ok maybe your thinking the same thing I am. You took the steak, but left the mashed potatoes and veggies...Hmmmm isnt that gonna get cold before I have a chance to eat them. Also how are you gonna fix and over cooked steak and under cook it. Hey, I'm hungry I willing to see how the trick is gonna work. Five of so minutes later my old over cooked steak arrived. Hey guys I did say I was hungry right...well, i felt the outside and it was luke warm maybe, so I cut into it and Shazam it was still cold. I asked if was in the fridge or if it had to be thawed. Cause let's face it. You go to a steakhouse and imagine steaks on the grill charring up, sizzling and the hiss from the fat hitting the charcoal right. Hey, The prime rib sitting in a smoker, with the wood burning, and smoke rising from the stack and the beautiful aroma attacking your noise like a U.S. Marine on isis, just a pure beat down. Nope! She said they cook it in beef au jus, what, what,....Whaaat!!!! Beef au jus, ok. So she took it back again, this time she said the chef is gonna cook it, Hmmmmm. Ok I'm as hungry as a hostage, so I've still got hope. The server proclaims i was a very polite man. Now I think about it, it was code for you think that's steak is jacked up now! Lol,Just wait cause you ain't seen nothing yet. So my sides are cold as Ice, I'm still waiting and man son who is killing his grilled cheese says, Hey dad I feel bad for you, try a fry....lol. anyway, we know how this is gonna end right. Yep, she brings out a masticated piece of meat I mean it was boiled up, and I thought I heard a hint sarcasm when she said take a bite, try that huh. So I took a bite and looked at her. I honestly looked in the back to make sure my ex-wife wasnt in there cooking, trying to kill me. heck, I called her on the phone just to make sure she was not there. I said hmmmm I think I. Gonna call it square. And just like with my ex-wife's cooking I spit it out. I haven't eaten at coltons in a years, and it may be several more years...
Read moreI visited this establishment with my family on December 26th with my family to celebrate my mother's birthday. The food here was good, it tasted fine but was a bit cold. It was the day after Christmas so of course they were busy and we weren't too bothered by it. However, what was completely unacceptable was the bartender (whom I learned was also a manager later that night) that was making drinks. Our table was right by the bar so we had a great view and was within ear shot of what he was saying and doing. We had ordered a frozen margarita well before we ordered our food and waited a good 45 minutes for it before asking our waitress to cancel it. During this time we saw him make at least 3-4 other frozen margaritas while chatting with patrons at the bar. He was hardly behind the bar and when he was he only seemed concerned with who are sitting at the bar. Despite our waitress explicitly telling the bartender to cancel the drink, he still made it (and wasn't even very good.)
I then overheard the bartender getting attitude with our server how "Well did you tell the table that another waitress took the drink" and found his mannerisms and actions very unprofessional and off-putting. I guess we weren't the only table to think so as there were other tables that had complaints about him.
Our waitress was Stephanie (Or Buffy) and she was AMAZING!!!!! She was handsdown the best part of this night and was the best server I could ever ask for. She was very diligent and repeatedly asked about the status of our drink and did everything in her power to assure my mother had a good night and dinner and I am thankful for that. I cannot write into words how much of a pleasure she was to have and how phenomenal she was.
Colton's should have more people like Stephanie and less like the bartender.
I know it seems trivial but we had waited patiently for our drink, and then for him to finally make the drink once we asked for it to be cancelled left a sour taste in my mouth, especially when it was for my...
Read moreWent to Colton's for Tip a Cop night, a fund raiser for Special Olympics. Cops were supposed to be taking orders and serving food, but we didn't get a cop. We got a waitress that obviously didn't care about customer service and helping her employer and the cops do a good thing. Our orders were taken, drinks and salads were delivered promptly, but after that the service turned horrible. I watched our food taken to customers at another table. They returned my loaded smashed potatoes because they didn't order them, then cut into our steaks before realizing they had been served the wrong order. About 10 minutes later the waitress was made aware of the mistake which she corrected by taking our now cold meals out from under the noses of the other guests and placing them incorrectly in front of us. She also served me a bake potato she had brought out to replace my smashed potatoes. I reminded her of my order and she went to the kitchen and brought me the potatoes that had been previously served to the other guest and returned. They were so cold the butter and sour cream would not melt. We ate without complaining, even though we were never checked on and did not get drink refills. When done I managed flag down the waitress to give me the bill, then sat for 15 minutes waiting for her to come back and close me out. Finally we went to the front and got the lady who was seating people to go to the back and get our waitress. That took another 10-15 minutes.
I was looking forward to supporting the Benton cops and Special Olympics and having a nice meal while doing so. It was ruined by this...
