I left feeling unsatisfied, largely due to the bland, uninspired food that failed to live up to its price tag. While the service was attentive and friendly, the restaurant was overly crowded—especially for a place whose food didn’t even compare to the humble quality you'd find at a Waffle House.
The buttermilk pancakes were passable, but certainly not memorable. For what they cost, I expected something far more flavorful. The coffee, though hot, was a mild blend that lacked depth, and it was served in a cup better suited for tea time than for a proper coffee drinker. One cup was simply not enough, and refills didn’t help its unimpressive flavor.
The atmosphere had its charm. The handmade tabletops crafted from natural wood—sourced locally, it seems—added a nice aesthetic and gave the space a cozy, familiar diner feel. There’s no doubt the interior was designed to appeal to a modern, upscale crowd. However, the contrast between the refined decor and the grocery-store-tier food was stark. It gave off the impression of a place trying hard to look elevated while cutting corners in the kitchen.
The dinnerware and utensils were of decent quality—better than your typical fast food joint—but then there was only one paper napkin, which felt like a telling metaphor. It was as if they splurged on the details that show, while pinching pennies everywhere else.
Perhaps it was just an off day, but overall, we left disappointed. We came expecting a high-quality meal and instead received style...
Read moreWifey and I were out biking and needed a place to stop for lunch. We Google HOMEGROWN and found it to be one block from where we were standing and went in. We ordered the avocado turkey on toast and coleslaw Sammy. It was super delicious. Our server, whose name is Ethan question as to whether we wanted the coleslaw on the side or on top which is normal. We thought about it and said on the side please. Next time we're ordering it on the sandwich but it was super nice of Ethan to question us rather than just take the order and forget about it. He definitely went above and beyond your normal server with the way he treated us and was so incredibly thoughtful. We had split one sandwich as we were trying to cut back and the manor in which Ethan split the order was phenomenal. It was like two separate orders instead of one split. This young man is a definite at the asset to HOMEGROWN. Love the price. Love the atmosphere. Love the service. Love the food. Definitely will be returning next time we're biking in this...
Read moreLocated on the Walmart home office campus, they have a big open restaurant with tons of comfy booths. We went on a Friday around noon and it was busy. Super loud, we could barely hear each other, it was just a general noise level, not any party in particular. I did like the menu offerings. All of the portions were on the small side. Two of us ordered an omelet called “gimme the meats”, it should have been called “hiding the meats”! It had zero bacon and maybe 8-10 pea sized pieces of sausage and ham. Quite disappointing for the cost. The gravy tasted pretty good and the cheesy grits were alright, a little thick. The English muffin was barely toasted, it actually had a cold center. Side jam was homemade and tasty. They put a pepper grinder on the table, but honestly coarse pepper on eggs isn’t good, so I’d rather have a regular shaker. Service was attentive and bathroom clean, could really use a purse hook. I wouldn’t go back, I can make better breakfast at home for a fraction and actually have...
