My fiancé Mary and I walked in to Markham & Fitz Chocolate today and were greeted by Hunter behind the counter. We’d met him a month ago when we’d walked in the first time. He recognized us and was very welcoming!
Hunter suggested we try some samples and was cool and patient while Mary and I bickered loudly over what our chocolate intake limit would be for the day (I ultimately lost that discussion and we bought more chocolate than I initially intended). On that note, fun fact: Markham and Fitz currently have these delicious little alcoholic chocolate balls and they’re addictive. They’re not what you’d normally expect. The alcohol isn’t just in the center of the chocolate by itself—it’s mixed in as part of the process and the flavor is infused throughout the chocolate!
The purchase went smooth and fast (they have a card, chip and NFC reader—and they also take cash) and we sat down to enjoy some chocolate. After a minute or two we looked around and noticed a few families smiling and laughing, with young children’s smiling faces being wiped up with napkins.
Mary loves the atmosphere of this place and so do I. I’ve never actually gone to a sit-down chocolate shop before we moved to Arkansas, and I can honestly say that I’ve been missing out. We can’t wait to come during the summer to sit outside and meet new people while we munch on some decadent goodness.
What’s really going to bring us back are the employees and the fun business model. I’m confident that if we had any issues at all during our experience, they would have been dealt with happily and confidently with a smile. Markham & Fitz Chocolate is clearly owned and operated by empathetic, caring people....
Read moreI had been looking forward to this experience for some time. I took my mom and we stood at the front to place our order. The guy behind the counter never acknowledged us. People started lining up behind us, so we assumed that we were supposed to ring ourselves up on the kiosk. Twenty minutes after the transaction, we were still hot chocolate-less. 6-7 people came in behind us and received their drinks before us. My mom checked on the order and was told they’d work on it. We waited a total of 30 minutes. My mom snacked on the marshmallows she bought herself and they were subpar. Hot chocolate it’s self was like a 3/5
I would like to add that shortly after my review, they reached out to correct this error and offered me a gift card to try again on them. While I haven’t made it back just yet, and I never got around to picking up the card (life happened), I do appreciate their effort to fix the issue and the costumer service offered. Thank you for hearing my complaint and fixing it. I look forward to trying...
Read moreWhy is this shop not also located in Austin, Tx? Wow, to have an authentic chocolatier is something to behold and not to be taken lightly. I do not EVER consume chocolate martinis as after trying one many years ago, I found it to be rather bland, but when visiting an actual chocolatier, one must venture out and whoa, Nelly! The martini was decadent, extremely smooth, creamy and gave me quite the buzz. We ordered drinking chocolate for my son that came with a homemade marshmallow and it too was dreamy. The bag marshmallows you buy at the store have nothing on these homemade pillows of fluff. I wanted a bite of everything but in an effort to tamper my sweet tooth, we settled for slices of chocolate cake to go. We sat them out at room temp about an hour before we consumed them and it was delicious! The chocolate is very rich and worth every calorie you consume. Honestly, if you are afforded a mention in Food and Wine magazine and you make Oprah's list, what more...
