I visited while on a trip to B-ville and the ratings are based only on one visit and meal.
Oddly enough, the address listed on yelp was incorrect, so it took me a few minutes to locate the restaurant in the bustling downtown. I mentioned as much to the bartender - It's an easy fix, but it looks like the address is still incorrect.
Decided to sit at the bar ordered a brew and a margherita pizza. If you can make a simple pizza well, it will speak volumes about the quality. Once you start putting delicious pig on a pizza they all taste good - mostly because of the pig.
Service was fast and friendly. The place was slammed, with virtually all tables full. Fun decor.
They had 'cocktails on tap' which seems like an odd thing. My experience with bar drinks is they are often best when freshly mixed - to get the balance of ingredients right (e.g. how much the ice melts). Maybe they only add vibrant ingredients like citrus and mint after pouring from the tap, but it feels like 'cheating' or using a bottled pre-mix. If you're good with those type of drinks - then I can see how the novelty would be fun.
The pizza arrived and had good color and puffyness to the crust. Some nice fresh pieces of basil on the pizza (I like mine added after they come out of the oven - gives a fresher, vibrant taste). The sauce was good- simple, some acidity and sweetness that went well with the fresh basil. There was only one downside, and it's a personal taste thing - too much cheese. So much fresh mozza that it overpowers everything else on the pizza. Honestly, I think it would have been an excellent pizza with half the cheese. (It's funny - seeing some other reviews someone was complaining about not enough cheese ;) ). It's probably been adapted to local tastes.
NET - Huge potential on the pizza. Good service. Interesting premise. I'd...
Read moreMy husband and I visit O&T almost every Sunday for brunch. It is hands down one of our favorite restaurants in Northwest Arkansas. The food is always consistent and the service is exceptional.
We generally manage to get Tim as our server and I will say that he is incredible and largely contributes to our wonderful experience every time. I know you cannot choose your server, but if you could I would definitely suggest Tim!
We have ordered a variety of things off the menu and I can honestly say that we have never had anything we didn't absolutely love. However, we particularly favor the wood-fired pizzas for brunch with either a Bloody Mary or a Kentucky Breakfast to drink. You cannot go wrong with anything you order here. The ingredients are always rich, flavorful and fresh tasting. The Bloody Mary mix is perfect. It is made fresh and never from a bottle mix that's pre-made.
We love visiting and just taking our time to talk, sip drinks and enjoy our meal. We never feel rushed. Oven and Tap has a wonderful atmosphere with beautiful design. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside or they open the large garage-style doors in the front for fresh air. If you can, take your time and enjoy your meal and your company here at O&T. Sometimes when visiting restaurants, you like to just eat and move on but this is a place where my husband and I really love just spending time together. He works long days and Sundays are his only day off. Oven and Tap definitely makes it easy for us to catch up on conversations and enjoy the day...
Read moreWorst experience ever. Save yourself some time and go somewhere else. We had a party of 8 come by at 9pm on a Friday. The host says they are busy and cannot seat us. There were table open and they close at 10pm so we were confused but we said okay we will order food as take out. We place our order and decide to wait at the open tables in their patio. While waiting, a server comes and asks us if we were going to order, which we said we placed take out we are just waiting, to which he says we need to leave because they are clearing and closing those tables. This is at 9.20pm they still have 40 mins to close. So I go back to the host and ask her how long the pizzas we ordered would take, to which she said oh they haven't even started making yours. So i asked to please cancel our order because it really seemed like they didn't want the business. Her response was "ok, but we are too busy so I can't credit your card till we close out, you will get your refund by the end of the night". She canceled the pizza order because I saw her do that and I know they did not make our food yet. But guess what, I still got charged and they did not cancel my payment. We were all from out of town and this was by far the worst experience we had on our first night in Bentonville. I wish I could give them the benefit of doubt but that hostess seemed to not want any customers after 9pm. They were pretty rude to others that walked in that...
