I am rating a two, not a one or less because I haven’t actually had a chance to try the food itself to rate it. But service/atmosphere alone is a 1 or 0. I have gone twice now, once last spring, and most recently on the day before Christmas, and I have given myself several days to calm down before this post. Twice now, I have called ahead and confirmed that they had what I wanted, available and in the case, before I immediately drove the half hour to the store. Understanding that they don’t reserve, but assured there were both full pies and slices available each time. When I arrived back in the spring, planning to grab a Lemon Meringue pie, I was told upon arrival, they had sold out already. That is possible, unfortunate but possible, but as it was my first time in, I looked around and saw on the board, where they cross out the daily availability, that was never on the menu at all for the day. Maybe a mistake. But I walked out empty handed that day. Well I decided to try again shortly before Christmas, checking in the end of the week before, I was told I missed holiday pre orders, which I understood, but told they would likely have some extra prepared the day before Christmas, the day everyone was to pick up their orders, and to call that morning and check. I woke up at 7 am that day and called at 7:25, hoping to give them a few moments to orient the store in the morning. I was searching for a sour cherry pie, and lo and behold, assured they had not just one, but several, in case and ready. The girl on the phone even “stepped away to check”. I immediately drove over, arriving by 7:50. And upon entering, told they had none today. Not even that they had already sold, but none to begin with. When I asked why I was told on the phone they were available, I was treated like I was lying, the woman told me nobody would have said that, and the other workers wouldn’t speak up. That is until I pulled up my phone logs and showed I had called 25ish minutes prior, then a girl from the side admits she told me they were there. The woman in charge was completely unapologetic, which was the same as the last visit. It is a bad business model to lie to your customers, hoping that they just come and find something else to walk away with, when they already know what they definitely want! Especially since you are wasting their time, gas, and energy, in my case at 8.5 months pregnant! I kept my cool inside, I understand workers/businesses have enough going on at the holidays, but was so upset I couldn’t leave the parking lot until I calmed down enough to drive. After being recommended this place both times when I was searching for things and being let down so completely more than once, this place will not get...
Read moreHands down, one of the most adorable bakeries. You walk in and are immediately transformed to a local small town old school vibe. The entire place is decorated with nostalgic items from spice cans to rolling pins and cake stands. You can spend an hour just looking at the decor. They have three cozy seating nooks, each with a couch and chair, then they have a few small tables and a large table to accommodate a party of any size. They post their daily menu on social media each morning. You can purchase whole pies, cakes, and quiches or by the slice. We had a chocolate croissant, a flaky jalapeño cheddar scone, and the heavenly German chocolate cake slice. A lot of bakeries in the States are heavy-handed on the sugar in their treats. Piehouse is not that way. Sugar doesn't overpower the baked goods. You can really taste each ingredient. They were continuously baking and bringing things out while we were there. They also offer coffee and espresso drinks. I was leery about getting my café au lait from a bakery, but it was top-notch. They offer oat and almond milk for your coffee drinks. They also have sugar-free options if you order in advance. Great service, there were three people working the register and serving. They also offer soups, sausage gravy, and pot pies with their sweet offerings. If you get a scone, be sure to ask for their jam on the side. They have hot honey on the...
Read moreWe run a B&B in Green Bay, WI. My son and daughter-in-law brought us to The Pie House Bakery during our recent visit to Bentonville.
We were blown away by the home-baked creations. Everything we tried was absolutely outstanding!
Lisa puts so much love into her recipes. It comes through in every bite!
I was honored to meet Lisa and we discovered we have a recipe for pie crust that is very similar. ☺️
Before trying Lisa’s pie crust I had never found one I liked as much as my own. I have met my match and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
As a local award winning baker my hat is off to Lisa and the crew at The Pie House Bakery!
Keep doing what you’re doing. Can’t wait to visit again!! And your Pumpkin Bars inspired me to make something similar at our Wisconsin B&B.
I’ll give you credit on our social posts. 😃
