They finally finished the renovations in late December 2023. The reason was to open a drive thru lane.
The problem with the new layout is in order to fit the drive thru lane, they had to eat a huge chunk away from the existing parking lot. It is now very narrow and dangerous to park your car in the parking lot due to this extremely constricted space.
I would recommend using only the drive thru, parking anywhere else but here, or just got to any other Dunkin Donuts other than this location due to the dangerous parking lot.
If any large truck or SUV is parked here, it may be very difficult or impossible to back out of your spot to exit without a collision, and on top of that, this much narrower space introduces a traffic jam problem with lines of cars in 2 directions trying to enter the parking lot at the same time cars are trying to exit.
I think the architect who designed this really was not thinking about reality when he designed it. Washington Ave is a main artery for both Teaneck and Bergenfield.. and with this new design, you are introducing potentially huge clogs in the traffic flow in 2 directions.
I have 3 suggestions... Either get rid of the drive thru and restore the parking lot to be bigger... Or get rid of the parking lot and make it a double drive thru with only 1 entrance and 1 exit so traffic always flows in the direction of the main flow on Washington Ave...or cut the parking lot spaces in half so only slots are available near the building and when you back up, it is just a large empty space which gives you plenty of room to get out.
The land area for this location is just too small to have both a parking lot and a drive thru unless the owner buys up the adjacent property. Then they could have an easy in and out flow for the drive thru and ample space for parking.
As for the interior it looks nice and bright and modern. Not much different from the older look, but now there is no back room and the employees are all out in the open. I'm not sure if they actually bake the donuts here at all anymore. Maybe they just get delivered here? That would be a shame. It was awesome in the 1980s when they used to make the donuts fresh in each location. Anyway they do have a variety of menu items for both the Baskin Robbins ice cream and the Dunkin Donuts food and drinks.
But there are 2 really stupid things that went along with this new renovation (other than the drive thru)..
Across all 8 jumbo sized TV screen menu boards, there is not even ONE donut or Munchkin... So judging by the menu alone, I assume they don't sell donuts anymore? The only way to find the price of donuts is on an old, wrinkled clear plastic sticker on the side of one glass case. The prices are in a small font in pure white color on a transparent background so it's almost impossible to read or even locate at a glance. I guess they don't want to sell donuts anymore?
The name and brand I knew of growing up and have fond memories of was Dunkin Donuts. This new business is just called DD, like a bra size or some strange unintelligible code word? DuhDuh? DeeDee? I think companies are really getting lazy and are abandoning valuable time honored brand names for I don't know what reason other than laziness as I said.
Anyway the donuts taste ok. Nowhere near as good as they were in the 1980s when they were made fresh in each store. But at least they are...
Read moreToday, 6/12/2024 , a little past 7:00 pm. I went to Bergenfield Dunkin Donut drive thru to pick up my hot coffee ordered and paid via app already. As the window opened , i asked my husband who was the driver to show my phone with the order number + my name on it to the service worker and he did but the worker was asking for a barcode to scan and I told him that i ordered the coffee via app and that i paid for it already but he continue to demand for that barcode with his face showing annoyance bec i cannot produce the barcode that he was asking for so i ended up on handing him my cellphone and as he scroll it he found the barcode and he scanned it immediately then handed me an iced coffee with a different order number written on the label . “ HE GAVE ME A WRONG ORDER AND I WAS DOUBLE CHARGED( 1st- via app and 2nd- bia this above drive thru worker” I decided to go inside the store to return the wrong coffee and to get a refund . Two workers helped me as i explained the problen that just happened and they helped me with proper apology BUT this drive thru worker started pacing back and forth and mouthing words and repetitively claiming that he is apologizing but his tone and sincerity wasn’t there at all. He also explained that he “thought” i would like to pay which i never said bec i know i paid already. He also answered me how Filipinos have bad traits as if he is not a filipino. To the management : Can you please watch your store video so you can see for yourself how arrogance prevailed on this particular worker of yours. He needs some training/ inservice on how to communicate with customers and how to listen with understanding and humbleness. It seems he don’t know that people can order and pay via app. I’d been a customer of Bergenfield Dunkin Donut Store for many years now and I always find staff everytime i order to be respectful, skillful and admits to errors and inconviniences whenever made . I am not new to using and...
Read moreI don’t know what’s not working at this location… perhaps a case of if it ain’t broke leave it be? Ever since the major renovation that add a drive through I have never waited SO long for an iced latte, ever, anywhere, only to reach the window and not get my beverage. It’s not been made yet. The line of cars behind me is 7, 8 deep. The lack of efficiency and speed here is mind-boggling. I can see them, chatting and shuffling…there’s no one manning the window now. But there’s some laughter, from somewhere inside. I’m not even sure I still want the iced coffee, I’ve been waiting so long. It’s a shame. And for the record, it’s no better inside. I’ve tried that, twice. One medium iced latte took an unusually long time. And I was at the moment the only counter...
