Ike's Love & Sandwiches — Restaurant in Berkeley

TLDR: Ordered a simple Jim Rome. 1st attempt: added surprise pickles 2nd attempt: no turkey 3rd attempt: no cheese, no avocado

I give up.

Ordered a Jim Rome from their website with lettuce, tomato, and onion.

It was delivered and made with pickles. I called the store and explained the situation. They gave me a refund which was awesome.

I proceeded to order another sandwich on their website. The exact same thing. Once delivered, I found it was made without turkey....

I got in my car and drove to the store and spoke with the same employee, I think, since there were only 2 working. He was shocked that turkey was not included and offered to remake the sandwich a 3rd time. I gave him both receipts with the same order and received the correct sandwich. I did bring back both mistakes and asked him if they could give it to someone. He said u could leave it and they'll give it to some homeless people at the end of the night. I was glad to hear the food was not going to waste.

My issue boils down to ordering delivery for the convenience. After 2 attempts of delivery, I still had to drive down to the store and have them make the sandwich a 3rd time. I get that mistakes happen, but come on, twice in a row with the same sandwich and customer.

It doesn't end there. I got home and went to eat the third attempt of my sandwich. No cheese. No avocado.

I'm done. Should I tempt fate and ask for a 4th remake? At this point it's...

Love Ike's sandwiches. The food here tastes just as great as every other location that I have been to, but the service here is probably the worst. First time I was here, they forgot to make my sandwich. Was waiting for awhile before inquiring and they acted like nothing was wrong. In fact, they were giving me attitude about it when I told them what the order was and that I had wanted all the toppings on it. No apologies or anything. Second time, ordered ahead of time to make sure that didn't happen. I arrived at the estimated time, and they have not even begun making the sandwiches. When I let the cashier know, he said oh let the sandwich makers know you're here to pick up. When I did that, they started to make my sandwich then, putting me way behind in the line of the other people who had ordered. No apologies again. VERY unprofessional staff members here. If the location wasn't so convenient and the food good I would never come back. But it'll be rare that I would want to waste my time...

As someone who used to work for a sub shop with a conveyer belt toaster for years, this was 💯 the worst sub I've ever had. First, I ordered no tomato, add pickles and jalapeños - I got my sub after waiting 10 minutes WITH tomato, and only one SINGLE jalapeño in the entire sub, let alone parts of my tomatoes were green, as in under-ripe. Moreover, my sub must have been sitting around as I waited and the toasting time overly rushed; the cheese wasn't melted at all and the whole sub was soggy and lukewarm by the time I took my first bite. This was my first time at an Ike's Sandwiches and it will definitely be my last; especially since when I came in they had only 1 person ahead of me and those working had no customer service skills to speak of - the field is CUSTOMER service, you serve the customer.
